A note of thanks ....

I’ve been away from DAZ for a while … my libraries were a mess, DAZ Studio was confusing and dragging along with update after update.

After upgrading my MAC to an IMac retina 5K - I resisted using TimeMachine to reinstall and installed DAZ Studio and my entire DAZ Library from scratch. Hooray for DAZ3DIM which made days of work complete in minutes and what a surprise … DAZ Studio was efficient and worked like a professional program.

Reinstallation is a pain in the neck but so worth it. DAZ deserves recognition for every step in my success to turn things around. They keep records of my purchases and mine went back to (I think) 2001. (I used Poser and transitioned to DS.) They allowed me access to their servers to download my products. They created a downloader to handle the mess of download and the installation process easily. They gave me access to my product serial numbers and updated the program from the shell that it was to a relevant functioning professional product.

There is a lesson here …. cleaning house makes a great difference to your workflow. And I’m back to DAZ … made my first new purchase late last week.

(Now, if only DAZ would update my old friend Bryce :)

A note of thanks,
Barb

All true and DIM is a miracle, isn't it? So nice to have you back, Barb!

Spit! I was over on Rendo looking for you. Gosh ... our galleries are old! Do you have any work here? How have you been?

I'm fine and you? Sheesh, been a long time. No, no new work pretty much anywhere. I even let my website die. Just a few pics here and there in the forums. But i'm workin' on it. Been hanging out here depending on the definition of 'hanging out'. Not been terribly active lately though I play in Studio almost every day. Working on redoing my content. Do you have a site these days?

I'm well, too, thanks. I tried to find the Cricket Cage a few days ago with - as you note - no luck. I'm doing a re-eval of what I want to do and where I want to go. Will be taking down some sites and starting over. Still same passions but new iteration. Very happy to have found you, Sylvia. I used to benefit from your energy and creativity. Found a couple of your works here. Looks like DAZ has been doing some house cleaning of its own.

There have been a few iterations of new storefronts the last few years. Yes, lots of changes around here. I've been fighting between establishing my own new style and going along with the 3D render crowd all while trying to get back what I feel I've lost in expression. It's very frustrating. Buying everything Genesis and G2f and G2m and morphs, utilities, clothes when I really want silly little creatures playing critter games in the woods. Remember the days when we didn't really want to do fairy pictures but wanted to buy everything related to fairies? Kinda like that. You're right, a new iteration is in order.

I've lost my community ... Bryce was a big one, Poser and DAZ .... Fairywylde (Thorne had such great freebies)

I still have my Trees of the Forest obj collection from that series we both baught into - a new obj every Wednesday night. So many very nice objs. Much of my impetus was enthusiasm .... and the enthusiastic community support. (I still buy faeries, by the way. Only now I have a lot of 'stuff' and little memory of what it all was)

Managed to re-dl from Renderosity as well as DNA. If I had Bryce working I'd probably still be into the reality render but now I'm more interested in 2D - 3D dialogues with post render treatments. What ever that means.

    It's to be seen :)

I'm doing the 3D to 2D dialog too. Hey, let me send you my email addy via private message. I don't pick up my email as often as I used to. In fact I don't do much of anything as much I used to LOL. My kindlefire takes up some of that time....

Is Studio very squinty given the high pitch of the iMac 5K? I am thinking of buying one but wonder if everything will get too tiny to read.
