A Thank You to Vendors

I have read many posts of users complaining on the lack of Genesis and Genesis 2 content for Poser. Instead of adding my voice to that group, I will praise those vendors who make the effort to create Poser Companion Files and sell to a wider audience.

When a vendor uses the simple screen in DAZ Studio to create the Poser Companion Files for their product, it is safe to assume that they have tested their product in Poser. I know some vendors never used Poser, so it is understandable why they don't create for Poser. There are others who have Poser experience, but threw it away. However, there are those vendors who turned their Poser experience into an asset. And, they, in turn, are rewarded with a wide customer base.

I have created Poser Companion Files for DAZ content. From poses to characters to props, I have imported them into Poser. Experience taught me that poses import into Poser the best, but materials/shaders have the most trouble. Simple textures, transparencies, and bump maps do import very well. I have seen some vendors, who wanted more complex materials, make native poser material files. That attention to detail that will have me buy from them again.

Here is my list of vendors that is by no way comprehensive.

OutOfTouch
SWAM
Ironman13
Bobbie25
Sarsa
Charlie
Parris
Nikisatez

Your efforts made me a loyal customer. And I look forward to what you'll bring out in 2015.

LOL, and I one of the very first PAs with Poser support of genesis, supporting my products with PCF files longer than most on that list.. never, ever mentioned. But that's OK too.

sigh. The extra few days or even a week to make the Poser versions work and look good is worth it, when someone notices. Not all of my clothing has Poser support, but most of it does and all of my UVs and Legacy shapes have Poser support. I think. I'm pretty sure. Hmm. Maybe :P

Well, good on you for being positive, original poster. I think that's the right way to go about it.

Boy, there's a lot of us not mentioned here. At least someone does notice that some PA's are still doing Poser files.

I'll add a big thank you to that! I use both DS and Poser, so being able to use products in both programs is especially useful. It means I'm not locked down to a specific set of characters or a single program for my ideas (which sadly, are few and far between these days).

I use both Poser and DAZ Studio so , yes, I too would like to thank the vendors who more often than not provide Poser CF to their products. There are many not included in the OPs list, but you all know who you are that do provide PCF. I am thankful to all of you for continuing to support Poser.

A BIG thank you! I seriously don't check or buy as much as Daz as it seems to be going the direction of DAZStudio only, but the quality vendors that still make their products usable in Poser are why I still check in every now and then.

Well, looking at it from a content creator's POV, I spent a long time learning Poser, and. I see no reason to throw that time and effort away. Personally, I prefer working in Daz Studio, but that doesn't mean I've stopped using Poser. I'll continue to make all my products compatible with Poser until there's some compelling reason to change.

There are so many beautiful content I drool over at RO that doesnt work in DS. Last time I bought a hair product that didnt even move in DS tho it had many morphs. I had to resave them in poser so I can use them but the presets still dont work :( Not to mention fabiana's stuff. They look so good but I can just stare at them like a kid in a candy store. So a big Thank you for those vendors who support both poser and DS. They have my money and gratitude.

I use more DAZ and I can't currently thank the vendors, because they usually only one side of anything for the female characters publish (recent example: The Pre Workout Outfit for Females genesis 2). For the men, nothing will be published as well. Meanwhile, I am in favor of the introduction of a quota of 50% for men and in considering the already published materials 25% for women. The remaining 25% are for accessories etc.

I'll chime in and say sorry I cant do Poser CF currently, Well I can actually make the CF files - but i cant test them or make the mats, so its a no go.
I used to have a borrowed 2012 licence from a flat mate, but hes moved to Australia taken his Poser with him.
But when i had access to it I made sure all my Genesis 1 outfits had Poser CF.

At this moment in time I cant really justify forking out around £250 /$400 on Poser, just for CF and mats creation.
I could really use some stats on roughly what percentage of sales gets its Poser CFs downloaded. But i'm not sure if Daz can hand that sort of information out or not.
But If the percentage is decent enough to recoup the cost of the license (in a reasonable period of time), I can certainly consider it.

Sorry for the whole 'business bore' attitude, but that's just the way it is :(

Same here and I would like to add my thanks to the vendors that support both programs, especially those who make the materials and poses for instance with poser native files instead of duf and py files. ;)
I use both programs so I can convert the files but it's so much easier if that work is done already.

Not that I don't like the stuff vendors make for just one program, only thing is, if there's a Poser only item it's most of the time easier to use it in DS than vice versa.

In the meantime, thank you all for doing what you do and keep up on doing the things you like to do most,

    Love, Jeanne :)

Taking The Ant Farm off the list, he just went Daz Studio only. :( THAT'S going to be a serious drop in how much I spend at Daz3D.

Unless he said he won't be doing anymore products with Poser support, I don't think it's fair to assume "he just went DAZ Studio only". It could be just the recent product. I, for one, have Poser support for some of my products and none for other products. It just depends on the complexity of the product at the time and what kind of time crunch I am on. I will provide Poser files for products in the future, but not necessarily all of them.

AntFarm is a terrific artist/vendor and his products are always a favorite (of mine and others). Don't write him off just yet, please.

I don't sell my items at Daz but I do give them away free. I agree with Dogz in that it is very expensive to buy Poser just to make the items compatable. I'm afraid I only make Daz items.

I set up 90% of my work in Poser with what is called a side car file, textures for DS. There is only one download file because they all share the same folders within your runtime. On the main product page it will tell you what programs the item will work in. If it says Poser and DS than it will work perfect in poser. In my case that means I rigged it in poser and set up textures for both platforms. When I do an item that is for DS only it is because it is for a DAZ character and works using there unique set of tools and morphs. To recreate it for poser would mean completing a second product of the same item. That is time I could be making a new item, which is a heck of a lot more fun than repeating the same project I just finished. I hope no one feels I am picking sides, I simply get an idea and run with it. Sometimes DS offers the best means to seeing the project through. I know there is a Fan base for both, if you have never tried Poser you should and if you have never tried DS you should. Both are great and do different things, used together that makes for even better art.

Awesome, at least there may be future Poser stuff (and I can now say there's something you made that I DIDN'T buy). It's just this last week EVERYTHING has been DazStudio only, the new Baryolax add on previews, all the space ships, Cyber Nation, all Daz only, and the base figures are all usable in Poser, just the add ons aren't available for Poser. It just, really makes be question why I bought Genesis 2 and some of those other figures. I was starting to think I missed the Daz memo announcing they would no longer allow Poser products in the store. o_O

And for the record I took FOUR MONTHS of my leave time when I got back from my latest deployment to Iraq to set down and learn DazStudio, Four months at 4-6 hours a day for five days a week, it was the most painful four months of my life, I have never found a program so NOT user intuitive in my life. Poser is just set up with my creative thought process and Daz very definitely isn't. :(

Sometimes it does feel like everyone is running in the other direction. Can be be kind of confusing until you realize they don't really know where they are going, they just don't want to miss out. Sit back and enjoy the show the best you can I guess, I still do both as do a lot of vendors here. Things always trend which is why I have both platforms, DS is solid much more than the early builds and I really enjoy the fast renders.
