Daz 4.7 aniMate Lite not working?
OK - So I'm pulling my hair out !!!
For some reason (known to others I'm sure) - I can't get anywhere with the animate (aniblock) feature.
I've had Daz 4.7 since 29th December so I realize the 'Animate 2' free trial may have expired?
Even so, it should now be usable in the (default) 'LITE' version mode? Do you need a registration number?
When I attempt to fire up the Interactive lesson for 'Barefoot Dancer', I get an error message saying '8 files are required'
(please see pics)
I've uninstalled and re-installed all 15 main program folders via the Install Manager (16 counting the Photoshop Bridge but I don't use that one).
After total re installation - same problem - message "8 files missing".
It's probably something very simple - but I just can't figure it - so can someone offer any suggestion please?
( When attempting the OTHER Interactive lesson "Finding, Loading and Manipulating Content", I also got a message, this time saying "6 files missing".
But if it's actually 'missing files' I'm wondering where they would be located and what I've missed?
Thanks in Advance.

I don't think you are having a problem with Animate2 Lite, it seems to appear correctly in your images? Barefoot Dancer has nothing to do with Animate, it is a simple Scene render.
I don't know why you have two copies of Genesis 2 Starter Essentials for both Male and Female?
If you are installing with DIM, make sure that the path that DIM installs to, is set as BOTH a DAZ Studio Formats and Poser Formats folder in Edit > Preferences > Content Library > Content Directory manager.
The default path or DIM installs is C:\Users\Public\Documents\My DAZ 3D Library unless you have changed it.
Addict.... For some reason I thought the barefoot dancer was a lesson on aniblock animation.
(Which is why I thought that my inability to get the interactive lesson to work, might be related to a faulty aniMate Lite).
Yes, the aniMate Lite displays O.K. but hovering over the blue blocks (the 'dance' set), has absolutely no animation effect on actors.
Also, the lower left aniblocks pop-up previewer box is totally gray with no populated content. None of the blue blocks will drag to the timeline - (they show a NON ALLOWED action - slash through circle). And nothing I do gets any animating happening at all....
I'm surely missing something here....
I think I'm installing with DIM correctly to C:/Users/Public/Documents/My DAZ 3d Library. (please check my pictures).
All I am wanting to do is to get the animation function working....
Thank you for your help so far...
Your second image shows the Content Directory Manager, and you do not have the path to your content entered there.
You need to add C:\Users\Public\Documents\My DAZ 3D Library to that pane under BOT formats (Poser and DS)
Click on DAZ Studio Formats, then click on Directory > Add. Do the same for Poser Format as well
Jimmy you addict !!! You just got me one (1) step closer ... Thank you!
I added (like you said), the C:\Users\Public\Documents\My DAZ 3D Library path as a "DAZ STUDIO FORMATS" directory path under "Content Directory Manager". (It was already though, listed correctly under the poser formats).
Now (for the first time) I can actually see a listing of aniblocks in that lower left previewer box. GREAT !
But, those blue blocks are still 'dead in the water', they won't evoke animation when hovered on, and they still won't drag to the timeline.
Getting closer, but we're not there yet...
Thanks very much for your help so far...
PS: Those interactive Lessons are now functional after adding that pathway! Great!
Do you see a circle with a line through it when you drag them? When you hover the mouse over the timeline, it should change to a red bar, and then you drop (release the LMB).
My animations run from the blocks at the bottom of the Animate2 pane, AND from the Content Library pane when I hover over them. I don't know what can be the problem with that not happening. I am not certain that the hovering should work with Animate Lite, but it should certainly be able to use aniblocks by dragging and dropping.
Yes - Circle with line through it while dragging - BUT - it doesn't change to a Red bar when dragging to the timeline, so DRAGGING and DROPPING is not happening.
I've tried different aniblock sets, (Dance, Fighting, Gestures, Walks etc), but none of them will drop to the timeline.
I CAN manually set key frames onto the timeline (utilizing the happy, sad, shock, morph sliders) to create changing expressions on the timeline. (So the timeline isn't totally dead) But the blue aniblocks themselves can't be dragged there to do their thing.
Are there any other prerequisites / settings that enable or disable those blue blocks being loaded to the timeline???
Surely I'm not the only person to have experienced this?
Any suggestions from anyone would be much appreciated (please) ................
DAZ QUOTE...........
"...........The aniMate2 plug-in is included with the DAZ Studio 4 installer and is installed automatically, but is not activated until you enter a valid serial number for it........."
Is the serial number only for activating the aniMate2 version? Or is it needed for aniMate LITE to work as well? If so, is that the same serial as used for the main app package? I thought I read somewhere that there's a problem if you attempt using the same serial as for the DAZ 4.7?
And if it’s a different serial, where do I find it?
Because when I downloaded the 'package installer' from DAZ, I received 2 serial numbers for 'DAZ Studio 4.6 Pro' (yes 4.6 though the package is advertised as version 4.7).
They both start with SDZFPRO-040 which, I assume means SerialDaZForPRO version.
So the aniMate software probably starts with different letters, which I don't have (I didn't receive).
Yes, that's correct; the package download uses a SGFANMT-020- prefix for the aniMate2 module.
But this in no way helps the problem, which could be common to other users as well.
It's surprising that none of the viewers to date can confirm whether aniMate Lite needs a serial number to function.
Unless you have bought Animate2 in the Store here, do NOT enter a serial number.
Animate2 comes with DAZ Studio, and after 30 days, it reverts to Animate Lite. If you buy the full version http://www.daz3d.com/animate2 then you will have a serial number, if not, then you will have Animate Lite after 30 days.
You could try a reinstall of DAZ Studio, it wont affect any content, but it should reinstall Animate as well.
Thanks Jimmy.
I'll try a reinstall of DAZ as you suggest.
Should I install from my already downloaded file (from before), or do another new download from the DAZ Website?
How did you install DAZ Studio the last time, did you use DIM (DAZ Install Manager)? You could just reinstall it from DIM if you did.
If that doesn't work, you could try re-downloading it again. If none of that works, I'm baffled, but perhaps someone else will know what to do, out members are in different time zones, so you may need to wait a little while till someone else sees this thread.
OK - Problem Solved.
The reason my aniblocks were 'dead' and unresponsive, was because I hadn't first 'added a new track' for my selected object.
Without pressing the left side + button, no animation can even be previewed let alone constructed.
I other words, without an added blank track, you can't hover over an aniblock to see an animation preview. (blue aniblocks are there in a row but are 'dead' and won't preview. The same is true for previewing from the content library - hovering on a searched aniblock content item won't yield a preview. And of course dragging to the timeline's ruler won't work either.
So what appears to be a non functioning feature to a noob (like me), was there all along - Just gotta first add a track (+). Simple!
The final solution by the way, came from Topher from the DAZ3D Help Center. Thank you Topher.
I've included below the screen shots Topher sent me to clarify. (Thanks also to JimmyC for your assistance too).
That will help a lot of users I'm sure.
Any figure I load, comes in with an animation track already there, so I don't need to add anything. Maybe it is because I have the paid for version?
Thanks for posting this.
Thanks, Sonic. This is still not obvious. I have the paid-for version and none of the documentation says you need to do this. Lame!
