Can you shape a spotlight, like, use the scale controls to make it long and flat rather than just conical?
Like in the screen shot, the spotlight is on the right side, so there's a bit of a "hotspot", I'd like to spread it across the band,
The basic spotlight doesn't have many options. The uberSpot does have barn doors, "flaps" that can constrain the light, but it's still emanating from a point. If you want an extended source your only real option is an area light applied to a surface - the uberArea light shader is included with DS.
