Windows Movie Maker

edited December 1969 in The Commons

I'm on Win 7... and for some reason Neither WMM or WMML will Install correctly into the system. I've tried both repeatedly but Windows won't see or load either.

So I got Corel Video Pro which is lovely. However, I've animations that used two effects that came with WMM; the old/older/oldest effects and Threshold effect. WMM also had a feature where you could "emphasize", my word, which one you wanted more.

So, what I'm looking for is either someone's tech savvy words to get WMM onto to Win 7 or... to find those two effects in some other cheap or free program as Corel doesn't have them doh.

The threshold effect, for certain scenes, can be awesome. Using oldest/threshold is utterly perfect for a Victorian/Gothic feel. My kingdom for these two effects!

These two videos came up when I googled how to fix it. Don't know how much help they will be but I briefly surfed through the second one and there was a link in a blog or something on Windows 7 problems and fixes.

I recently added Windows Movie Maker 6 to my Win 7 Pro computer using the download from this article: http://movies.blainesville.com/2010/05/installing-windows-movie-maker-60-on.html

    Works great

No not quite. Everyone is linking to that file!! I've tried it three times now.

Maybe there's a step I'm missing? I'm installing it like everything else and the icon shows on the start menu; although it is whited out.

Clicking it does nothing at all.

I've tried several approaches now, as per vids, and nothing has worked.

I just tried it (both the 32 and 64 bit versions) and they download for me. Is your antivirus or computer blocking the download?

windows live update is what you need from Microsoft

What, update drivers? If so, this has never helped remedy a single issue since I got my first pc.

Serif do "MoviePlus" which has old film and threshold effects. The latest version (X6) is about £60, but you can still get the previous version for about £20. They also do a free "starter" edition, but I don't know if that includes all the effects or what other limitations there might be.

Bit of a process to get the free version but we've got it now. Have to reboot but I'm rendering right now so we'll see in a few.

To the other post, I can download WMM fine, can go through the installation with no errors.... still, the icon is whited out, clicking it does nothing and windows even says it's not compatible. Win 7 actually has a compatibility program to help with such scenarios yet did nothing in this case.

Kinda silly mucking around like this for two basic effects you'd think would be in any and all editors.

    Thanks.

Windows live essentials from Windows live update includes Windows live moviemaker for your system you may not get it first go, but it will update later with the version that works on your system.
I lost moviemaker on my old vista laptop restoring it to factory settings and got it back this way.
It initially told me my system not supported but later did provide me with a working version via updates.

I saw that page when all this started. Is that one large file where you must install everything? It won't change anything else will it?

Hey heads up for anyone reading...... Came across a piece about a pilot who's involved with chemtrails. Says they're making a new concoction for 2015 which is WAY more toxic and that it'll be invisible when sprayed.

Why are they doing it - to manipulate the weather? Heard they've caused some real disasters in China when experimenting with this. Don't mess with nature, it strikes back...

Geo engineering - and this should "wire" everything or one to each other. Then maybe future humans can be automatically zapped when they step out of line. But as yourself why they'd be putting highly toxic substances in the mix and have been doing that for decades. It's a wonder we're not dropping like flies - but then note the massive animal die offs (which is likely something else from the same people). Don't know if it's true or not if they're going to dowse everyone with a more toxic cocktail. Not sure if this is part of the plan or some new measure.

For anyone, what they do with this "free" version is insert the program's name onto your video... $70 to get rid of that.

Altho the effects threshold and old time don't give results like with WMM, they are fine in themselves.
