Sounds like a lot of the old Xurge armor sets for gen 3 & 4. The pants, boots, and armor were all one garment. Pretty much the same for the shirst and upper body as well.

Handsome sets most of them, But they were all one piece. The helmets were usuallu separate props at least.

Ummm, the poses reference an item not included in the series so far. I wonder if that is the mystery "Add-On," we get.

    Where's My Shield

The poses reference the Western Knight, not the current series, and the shield seems to be this one https://www.daz3d.com/the-western-knight-series-01-for-genesis-8-males

    Thanks. Fortunately, I have that.

The names used for some of the pieces really make me wonder.

    Swordbag?

This is what happens when PAs go out of their way to give common items ridiculous names.

If i were searching for the sheath, or scabbard, for this sword I'd never find it.

I literally just stumbled across it looking for something different entirely.

This has been brought up before. Try searching on AIRPLANE and virtually nothing comes up versus what is actually out there. I was a data analyst for 16 years and this just drives me nuts. I can't find what I want and PA's miss out on sales. Why is it so hard to add SWORD to the description if it's a sword?

Okay so the actual free extra item has arrived! And I have to say, it is *pretty sweet*. I reckon it's a great way to finish of the set, thematically works, and definitely above what I was expecting. A whole environment? Sweet!

I mean, like, it's not gonna make me buy the entire series for it... I didn't buy the first one 'cause I don't really like buying into something when I don't know what I'm getting, maaaybe I would've if I'd known the bonus? But for those who've already got the set, or only need a few more, I reckon it's pretty awesome.

Well the barding is unexpected... And the castle fortress is nice on the surface... Winter texture for north wall scenes in a couple of weeks. Do the doors and windows open and is it modelled on the inside?

I just realised I missed week 4 so doubt I will finish the set. Also have Daz horse and today only offers can wait too I think.

    Curious what others think.

The barding is not only unexpected, but from my POV also... interesting. On the other hand it's fitting nicely in with all the armour sets... in that "utterly not working in real life" way.

And that Knight's Castle: Considering that it's a model made by Polish I wouldn't bet on doors/windows that can be opened. Looks nicely (on the promo pictures - wouldn't buy it, unless I would desperately need something like it) though, except for the fact that it was placed beside that sheer cliff, instead ON the cliff, where it would be tactically proper, while down there's it's an invitation for boulders getting dropped down on it.
It also reminds me a lot of the Nightwatch castle in the Games of Thrones TV series.

I'm impressed with the castle but I don't need it. What I really like is the promo image in the sale header today, the knights at the round table. I'd love to see a bundle with the table, chairs, room, and peripheral props.

Has anyone tried the horse armour yet, please?

Are the stirrups actually useable, as in feet can actually be placed in them without breaking the knights ankles, or are they positioned 90° off intentionally, as it appears from this promo image of the poor knight caught clearly in the middle of the process of being thrown off the saddle?

  • Ditto what watchdog79 asked... also how poseable are the reins?  I realize that rigging a reins set so that it can be repostioned any way you like is a near-impossible task -- which is why the artist's description recommends dForce for best results -- but do they at least give you something to work with (example, individualized bones for the reins, morphs?)

As best I can tell, the way "clothing" including armor is made to fit and conform means that it's - again, as best I can tell - basically impossible to do anything remotely realisitic around the joints.  Particularly the knees and elbows, but also the groin area, I guess.

For very specifc and rigid poses, this isn't much of a problem, but for any character where the arms or legs have to bend, at least for me, it's basically a non-starter.  An unusual perfcentage of the people who would see or buy my art not oonly know armour quite well, many of them own and wear armour, and, yeah.

It's like if someone who'd never seen an actual car made an animation where the tires rotate around the wheel, which stays stationary.  It'd probably seem quite reasonable to people who'd never seen a car in person, but for people who drive every day, it'd be "That's not how this works - that's not how any of this works!"

Oh, and.... yeaah.  Way too many crosses on the king.  But that's not an automatic deal breaker for me. I can re-texture, smooth normals, whatever.  But if the crosses are geometry, that's a bit more annoying.  No wireframe/clay render to judge from, so, safer to stay away.

Horses tend not to like things tightly wrapped around their bodies even jackets and other materials tend to drape a bit. This barding  is so tight it's is a curiousity how the horse managed to even get it on, but that said, if you don't look at it underneath it looks pretty good otherwise.

I wanted the castle but it is a bit dirty and rustic for my tastes. It would make a nice outpost or fort, but, since I didn't buy the female armor or the king (baked in crosses are a no). It was not in my price range.

Probably my favorotie themed series and the payoff was nice in my opinion. The female armor was my least favorite and the King my favorite. No compliants. Haven't played with the castle much but theKing armor and the horse armor are much to my liking.

I tend to gobble up anything horse-related. I passed on this one because it's very similar to one already in the store, but of much lesser quality. (Compared to https://www.daz3d.com/guardian-horse-armor-for-daz-horse-2)

So, I tapped out after the first two armour releases (see my post about the helm on the 1st one earlier in this thread) - but I'm working on a pic and decide to look through my library for armour bits and noticed that my Knight series 02 is in the content as 03.  It's things like this that made me stop and has greatly reduced my spending here.  The subpar quality and lack of quality control has been making me more suspicious every time I go to buy something.
