Poser files in DIM
in The Commons
I am doing a reinstall of everything, it has been a while since installing old stuff, should I install both poser and Ds files in DIM or just DS files?

It depends. A rough guide is file size - if the DS version is much smaller than the Poser then both are likely to be needed.
ok thank you
If the content is for Victoria 4 or older, then you'll need the Poser conent as most DS content back then was definition files to access the Poser content.
If you are going to use both Daz Studio and Poser and you have the luxury of plenty of storage space for content, I recommend installing both sets of files when both exist. That's what I do. Most of the Daz content will be usable in Poser and most of the Poser content will be usable in Daz if you point your Daz content management directories to the Poser files and add your Daz content to your Poser libraries. One exception that I have noted is that Daz cannot recognize and use Poser .mt5 material files if they are used. Daz does recognize and can use other types of Poser material files. For the Poser content that I have accumulated, the material file type most often used is the .mc6 file type. I think the mt5 file type is the much older of the two file types. A brief forum thread on the mt5 file type is at https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/70752/mt5-file .
