Elbow poke through
in The Commons
So I'm working on a dress that has an elbow poke through but only sub d'ed. I've been trying to make a jcm that will fix it in zbrush. I'm not sure what is going on they work when dress is in Base res but not when dress is sub d.
The first image is subbed.
Second image base res.

You can try to add asmoothing modifier.
But generally with a large base mesh, then sub-d is likely to cause that.
If smoothing can't handle it, you can add a push modifier. Potentially weightpainted if you only want it to affect certain areas.
Thank you.
What does the geometry look like? It might help to post a screen shot in one of the wire modes (e.g. Wire Shaded).
Okay I've been playing with this for hours. I don't think the jcms are kicking in. I looked at their properties and they are at 0 even with the arm bent. I uploading screenshot of the settings.
Also I'm exporting to zbrush and importing as Modo but it's still doing the morph changes the size of the dress.
Sometimes actually turning down the smoothing modifier will fix this. Especially if it's only happening when the item is subdivided.
Thank you tried that but it didn't work. I had to add the sub d because the skirt if dforce but it's going into the tights the figure wears.
i just reinstall DS and still having same problem. JCM just isn't kicking in.
You aren't creating a JCM, you are creating a controller on the bone for the morph, rather than just on the figure. To make it a JCM you need to set up the ERC - for example, by setting the bend and the JCM only, right-clicking on the Parameters pane to put it in Edit mode (if it isn't), then right-clicking on the bend and selecting ERC Freeze.
Ok.
