Photoshop Bridge does not overwrite original materials does it?.

Say I want to add a skin imperfect to M4 for a specific situation/character, but of course want to go back to his original materials later without that edit living on Michael forever.

My sense is that editing materials in Photoshop Bridge spawns a new material and does not permanently alter the original, right?

    I know not a new user friendly answer but figure it out for yourself. Make a test image send over the bridge see if test image gets overwritten.
