The Nutcracker

Has anyone else bought this yet? I'm having a bit of trouble making it all work together, and I was wondering if there was something missing.
1. The character's icon doesn't appear in the main People/Genesis 8 Male/Characters listing, but if you look in the invidual character folders underneath that all of the bits are there.
2. The problem is that the pieces (body, feet, hands, etc.) aren't parented to a character as a whole, so even if you go in manually and parent the hands to the body, etc., once you pose it they are completely separate from the body and won't move with it.
3. The clothing won't fit to the feet, or body or whatever, and will not move with them.
I'm at a loss as to how to actually use this bundle, but I don't want to do a return since I'm assuming there's a fix for it in the works, or something that I am missing. I don't use Daz Central, I always use DIM to install if that makes a difference. Help! :D

Isn't Nutcracker more an outfit than a character? Much like the Automaton in this: https://www.daz3d.com/the-watchmaker-and-the-automaton
Try loading a male figure and then applying Nutcracker on it.
That works! Thank you so much, I appreciate that. I tried everything but never thought to try that. :D
Happy to help, I am glad it worked.
Alright Daz. How on Earth did this get through any quality control?
Look at the main promo of the product: https://www.daz3d.com/nutcracker-uniform-for-genesis-81-males
Nice, eh? Fits the figure nicely, looks great.
I wonder how well does it fit the default Genesis 8.1 male in the default A-pose. Oh damn...
Edit: And the best part? Look which items have any shaping morphs. Belt and jacket. That is all.
Edit 2: My mistake and my apology, the Nutcracker contains morphs to hide offending the body parts. Do not hide them on the scene panel, use the morphs. To fit the hair under the hat, morph the hair with the included shape slider to 100%.
I think you're supposed to hide the body parts that poke through. That's been stated by the artist in the forums more than once.
Actually, there's a projection morph under Actor/Clothing. It's not categorized very smartly, so it's not obvious where to find it, and it also should fire automatically when you add the Nutcracker to the figure, but it DOES work.
I must have missed that. Thank you.
With the conveniently included visibility presets!
The inclusion of the projection morph preceded the visibility presets.
Is it possible to have a bare wood preset dressed, without the poking parts, please?
I apply the bare wood preset, hide the poking parts, but the material gets changed back to the default, painted one. There does not seem to be a bare wood material option for the head and neck.
here
Thank you, but I have no idea what to do with that attachment.
stick it in the folder with the other visibility presets
There may be more than one way to get it all working but I am finding you need to hide the parts on the ACTION FIGURE, not the Genesis figure, if anyone is doing it the way I did.
Have you tried the projection morph?
Draw Me Like One of Your Real Boys
Make your own "wood" joke.
That's funny.
I'm thinking he's more of an Ash.
Nutcracker in Unity
Which folder would that be, please? I have no idea where the presets you are talking about are.
Not in the data folder - I suspect he means here: /People/Genesis 8 Male/Characters/Nutcracker/Action Figure Body Opacity/
Thank you, it worked like a charm. I even managed to get the Steampunk eyes working on him, with the help of other users in another thread.
Now I just have to find out whether he can actually open his mouth, as I haven't been able to find an expression slider that would do that, yet.
Glad it worked - I wasn't certain because I haven't installed him yet, the info came from the ReadMe file. By the way, those eyes look really good on the Nutcracker!
Mouth Opening should work - I believe the head is just a morph of the G8.1M figure, so the normal mouth open/close should work. (As far as I understand it, the rest of the body replaces the original figure torso/arms/legs/etc.) There seem to be FACS settings for the full range of face movements, so posing using the FACS overlay thingie should work too.
The regular expressions for Genesis 8.1 Male works on him - see below an example.
FACS is probably usable, but due to a special construction of the face, not easy to get something decent.
Various poses works well, when applied to him.
Thanks so much for this product. It's super cool.
I did figure out that I had to apply the poses for it to each of the body parts individually, eventually.
I didn't get your heirarchy preset working, DS complained of missing root but I hid the showing surfaces easily enough anyway.
