Thank you Herschel Hoffmeyer!

Thank you for not only bringing sexy back to the store but showing all the MATERIAL ZONES and individual pieces of the outfit! So many PAs and most Daz O’s only show clay tenders of the whole outfit together without showing any material zones. Another great addition to your sexy outfits!

Totally agree on the material zones, those are way more useful than the clay renders.

As for the Umbra outfit, he hinted that more might be coming.

  • I just picked up the Mystique sets last week and those look absolutely wonderful, I am definitely going to be picking up this new one as well especially seeing the expansions in that thread @Drip linked. The Samurai one looks awesome!

Yes! Those are great promos. I was actually on the fence about this outfit (I do like that samurai expansion and am looking forward to it), but with the material zones I can get a better sense of how I can kitbash it. So it's gone straight to my cart.
  • Completely agree, the presentation of HH's products is fantastic. I never need to do research before jumping on them.

It's a nice set but the big boobified voice in my head just wants to scream "Damn, girl you need to get a bigger bra...those cups are like four sizes too small!" (The underwire and center gore should rest flat against the ribcage with no top spillover in a properly fit bra)

  • I appreciate the support and the kind comments. I will continue to showcase all outfits I produce like this going forward.

This is my intention though and my taste when it comes to sexy lingerie. They have to be bursting out of it. The micropressure even moves the underwire farther up to even show off some underboob that squeezes out the bottom. I know it's not a proper fit but that's kinda the point.

I have use for it, but I also want creatures too. Specifically, baby dinos, and a baby elephant/Colossadon. I would buy any of those in a heartbeat, but I realize this is very niche.

    Hi Lau Lau!

Perhaps you should lobby HH to make a lingerie set for the T-Rex III and the Gnasher laugh

Nicely made. I am not the target audience of this type of content, but this outfit seems quite a bit more Mature and fetishy than the usual skimpwear. I wonder if the store has relaxed it's stance....

As much as I love this style, I have to wonder how many of the images made with it would probably not be allowed in the gallery with DAZs new prudish stance on naked shoulders and the like.

I don't think even Daz cares much about their products making into the Daz galleries.  As long as the products sell. The galleries don't really generate the bulk of the revenues. As far as the product, I think as long as Daz allows it to be sold, in this case (statistically) this will be a high sales product, the vendors have every right to produce them. Some vendors do depend on sales volume to make a living, not from wishes from \the vocal minority.  Besides there are plenty of capable PAs who are willing to not make money to satisfied that sectment of the market.

I don't know. I like the product alot and think it's mature enough such that it wouldn't cause trouble including it in a general audience video game, television show, or movie. I've seen lots of similar on prime time television shows dating to way back as in a half century way back, the bawdiest being Three's Company which was just over the top corny. It is not obscene product in itself, just a practical one done pretty.

Nah, HH's T-rex strikes me as a thunder lizard who is more into being dominated, so maybe a gimp mask and some little tiny handcuffs?

  •  In the meantime if I can't get anything like Diversion or Conflict outfits from the store then I'll get it elsewhere. Commercial companies exist only to sell goods and if one company is curating themselves too much out of what I might need at the moment then I'm going to look into another store. I might not often use Umbra outfit as a single set, but having long gloves and arm straps with micropressure morphs alone is very useful.

Near-infinite height heels and sexy are okay on outfits like this - purposely built to be sexy.

These HH sets look nice but are they still geoshells? If so their usefulness drops significantly for me. It's ok though, they're very nice for those who want them solely for portrait renders, where they excel at.

No, they're not geoshells but seperate designed pieces, as can be seen on the topology render in the promo's. Even the stockings are a seperate left and right stocking, rather than the usual combined variation. They do not come with any undress or tease morphs in case someone wants those, but do have some adjustment/fitting morphs and support a handful of specific figures (with other figures having to rely on auto-follow).

  • HH sets only use geoshels applied to the clothing items to create nylon surface sheer. Sometimes. Clothes themselves are geometry.

Are you sure? Because for example https://www.daz3d.com/mystique-2-for-genesis-8-females are mostly geoshells.for the clothing. Just wondering if Umbra for example follows the same design methodology.

Basically what Pixel above you said: the clothing itself is geometry, but there are geoshells applied to the clothing (not to the figure, like some underwear and clothing by other designers has) to create a specific visual effect. Which works great in Daz Studio, but no idea how it would work when exported to other software, like Blender or the pipeline thing in Unity.

Mystique 2 is a standalone set that can be used just fine without the previous Mystique set. Although it has extra materials for some of the Mystique 1 parts. The only geoshells in this set are used for nylon materials and I think the pantyhose is a geoshell and that's it.  I have this set.

edit; My bad, the pantyhose is a separate model too.

Great, thank you. Might have to try one of these out then, the quality and detail is excellent.

I wish HH would start a Patreon....

HH Mentions in in the Sayble thread
"The alternative nipples were removed during the PASS process and I sent them an updated image to use in the store but it was never updated."

Patreon would be a great place to provide all those extra bits and bobs that "DAZ Corporation" leaves on the cutting room floor.  Or anything else a PA might be Tinkering with that might be out of bounds on commercial sites.  Hey, or even updates/Fixes to items that might be slowly winding their way through the QA at Daz.

I'd be in for a Fiver per month...

Pretty please, with sugar on it?

Absolutely not. I remember a lot of NSFW illustrators and several artists leaving because Patreon was cracking down on this sort of content. They seemed to have stopped but who is to say they'll be back at it again?

He's on Art Station anyway and can sell over there, so he's already got a better alternative.

  •

    Absolutely not.

    Ha!
Well... if you are against it, then I guess everyone should just take their Patreon sites down now!

Patreon, and the like, provide JUST ANOTHER AVENUE for artist to get paid/compensated for their work.  Daz Store, Art Station, Renderocity, Patreon are just economic tools for the Artist to turn their creativity into a liveable income.

IMHO, If your goal is to make money from your art, you should explore every avenue and promote wherever  possible.

The good thing about Patreon type sites is, at its core, it doesn't have to be a Quid Pro Quo arrangement (Like Daz Shop/Art Station etc).

If I want to support an Artist for $5 or $10 a month for a while... and enough of us do it, then it helps to alleviate situations like this

And for the record, these are HH's own words from the Umbra thread:

Right now my decisions are being driven by products that pay the bills and keep me doing this stuff. Sales overall are just low right now. Don't know if that's the same for all PA's here but I'm feeling it.

This is the ideal place where the Patreon "system" fits in.  If HH has 20, 100, 1000+ folks throwing in, bassically what amounts to a Coffee and Danish per month for them, it may give them enough buffer to allow them more creative flexibility.  And he won't have to look for a home run every time he steps up to the plate.  With Patreon, a bunt can get you on base (help make rent payment, buy food or clothers for your family).

It might even allow them the time to make the “next big thing” for sale at Daz that the Patreon nay-sayers will gush over.

.  If you are already an establihed artist with a following, I think it really only makes sense.  Really, it just another tool for your toolbox.

Again, as I said in my post above, while not necessary, if HH wants to throw his subscribers some bones for their patronage… like the Alt Nipples (Sayble thread) or a tiger stripe set of Latex stockings… or anything else that wouldn’t make it as a stand alone at Daz (or art station), its a win! - Creative Exploration for the Artist that builds subscriber bases that contribute montly.

Bottom line is you won’t be forced to participate, it cost HH nothing to set up A Patreon, and at the end of the day, everybody benefits.

And really, what better way to say "thank You!" to HH than buying his store prodcuts and being a Patreon Subscriber?
