    Art can only ever be as good as your subject. You can determine the quality after that. A well lit well composed scene will look better than the same scene set up poorly. However a tree during Autumn against a sunset will look better than a stick in a cow pie. There is a reason pretty people usually do better in Hollywood and people would rather have pictures of butterflies than dung beetles. It may not make you more skilled but it will probably look better anyway.
  • My two cents is, just a few art skills can help you a lot.

    I'm a photographer and you can upgrade your brain exponentially by following a few simple rules by watching this from the legendary National Geographic photog Steve McCurry. Only a few minutes but if you start applying those here and there, i think you'll see a major difference in your renders.
