Hi,
Every now and then, I get this spark to create games. I'm not talking about cards or board cgames or duck-duck-goose gym games.j I'm talking VIDEO games, ya smart arses! :D
But I'm very, very new. i hardly know my ABC's in game programming. I've Googled around looking at stuff, but haven't found much that actually teaches me how to START. I know how to plan,c but not how to program.
I tried to try GameMaker Studio, but every time I tried to open it, my computer (an ASUS Q500A with Windows 7 Pro 8GB RAM) wouyld freeze
I want to make games like .the old "Dragon Warrior" and "Chrono Trigger" and Final Fantasy, strategy, beat 'em up, stuff like that...
I thought maybe someone here might have suggestions on a program,h a book, a site full of info for complete idiots...

Unity is pretty well documented and free. I'm thinking of getting the RPG maker for it.
Yes I've been playing around with a few programs
Unity is the best performance wise by there's a lot to learn, I would suggest to buy premade game templates. but you still need to know the basic first.
Construct 2 is very good for 2D game and for free

Just looked at those links. They are very cool. 3D gaming is far too involved for one person (at least, for one person like me), but I could really get into the idea of 2D gaming. Plus there are fewer licensing issues. Makes me want to give it a try.
Yes the 2D gaming stuff is not brain surgery you don't even have to program.
I've been going through some of the MS Game Development stuff it give you an idea what is is involved.
