Wooow, Kyoto Kid, artworks like this one make conscious to me my weak points of imaging: light and shadows. But I'm specialized into natural lifelike tweens and their nature, their special kind to experience the world. All the trials to show genesis or vicky as kids are interesting in several aspects, but they always carry the touch of teens or adults.
Using Genesis or Victoria in order to profit of more interesting clothing would mean to abandon on the typical kids' appearance and expression. So I prefer to wait for new kids' outfit or ways to apply adults' clothing somehow.

..thank you. that took about six weeks of development, consulting actual growth charts, and discussion on proper scaling. Not only did I have to scale hte figure, but the individual limb and torso segments as ell as kids are not just "miniature adults". Look at the difference in proportions of any "youngling" in the animal world compared to it's parent.

Genesis and G2 make it easier to a point (particularly with the Growing Up Morphs which even have a separate "youth posture" and head sizing morph) but I still find I need to make extra tweaks to the figure on my own as well. In my early Genesis attempts I also added just a bit of Mavka or Sadie (which is hy the genesis pltform is so to the mix to get the more, to best put it, "clumsy" proportions kids often tend to have as ell as the head scaling. I also have invested in a number of merchant morph resource kits, one which has a number of very useful facial and adjustments.

Here is one of the most recent version of my teen character Leela built off of G2F. This was done for a challenge that had a swimsuit/beach theme which made it all the more tricky as I knew a standard pinup pose would not be appropriate. Alas innocence and cuteness tend to take a back seat in these competitions as all the ones selected were of the more "typical" pinup variety.

Fantastic outfit, Dogz. Mall Girl is one of the best outfits in the store and I see it used a whole lot by others too, so this one promises to be a must-buy.

It's sad, even if not surprising. That's a cute render, it would have been great to see it as a winning entry instead of yet another curvy girl in a bikini (I didn't see the entries but it's not hard to imagine). Thanks for sharing it here.

This is lovely, Kerya. I like the addition of the little bird drinking from the puddle and the cat watching but keeping dry!

No, I meant the reason for lack of Kid shapes is partly ethical, while the lack of decent kids clothing is maybe more down to lack of interest and/or lack of kids in the first place. A 'vicious circle' if you will.
Bottom line is, if you make a kid figure and someone circulates a creepy render (it only takes one), do you really want to be associated with that as a company? Not really.... Even if you didn't sanction it, you can be guilty by association.
I'm just saying its understandable that its a potential can of worms (Particularly where Genesis and the freedom of Auto-fit is concerned.)
    That's all.

I happened to view incredible misanthropic content in renders. I find pages and pages of awful weapons, even torture chambers offered here. No, I don't believe in ethical reasons.

...I was also going to add that Wilmap creates a lot of nice "real life" freebie clothing for Genesis/G2 in both modern and period styles. Check her gallery out on ShareCG.

You might not -but the masses do.
You only have to look as far as the media, the law and the world around us in general to know that torture and nasty weapons don't even come close to a mildly suggestive image of a child - when it comes to setting off the controversy meter.
I'm talking about the reactions it generates and lines it crosses, there is just no comparison, where kids are concerned its off the charts. End of.

My product after next fully supports G2 kid (growing up morphs) as well.. my next one completely does not for reasons that will be obvious. LOL

Agreed. I'm seeing way too many of my teen shapes in renders wearing just underwear and in items and situations that borders on porn even when M6 is used. It's very creepy when a teen is used for it. It's probably a good thing I don't get credited in those renders, though I see a lot of my products being used as bases for a lot of artists' renders.

This right here is why most companies and artists alike don't create/support cg kids. Not to mention the stuff that is full on porn. I imagine that's also one of the major reasons Smith Micro stopped releasing new kid figures.

Just an update from my side, Growing Up will now be a merchants resource as well..I am just adding a few morphs and tweaks so expect an update sometime this month. Hopefully it will help bring more kids & teens into production.

I'm surprised and delighted to see my topic evoked so much attention. And lots of kind supporters of the concern. Actually I didn't long for more characters and shapes. What lacks is modern outfit and stuff. After several statements I read here it seemed to be a good advice to grab as much as we can before the minors vanish completely.

Well since I don't do clothing really, best I can do is contribute from my side regarding shapes & characters:)

Oooh, Fisty goes skimpwear ! Just kidding. KIDDING...!

But people are very wary about adolescent morphs because other people MAY do insane things with them.

Yes, dear Zev0, and with that you rendered us a great service I underestimated up to now. But I will give it a try. It's a chance to provide our little ones with a variety of modest warm winter clothes which was reserved to the adults up to now ;-)

Wow, this thread really took off since my last visit. I got distracted with an idea, lol.

    Fixing Mom's Computer
Staring, left to right, "Bambi" (Giselle6), "LY Kari", and "FWSA Aiyana".
All wearing Wilmap outfits, except for the Fisty Moccasins (Wachiwi's Finery)

Relax, it is not a Power8. It is an old decommissioned 128-core Power7 box, let the kids play...
    (EDIT 11:17utc 10oct2014)
Fixed a dyslexic moment with the Power7 CPUs, nothing else changed other then a couple caps on the MCMs on top of the computer.

Well, I don't know what you're working on, but I saw Barbarian Boy for K4 (http://www.renderosity.com/mod/freestuff/?item_id=61289) and it is quite... boisterous.

That's based on Bobby, from the Dungeons and Dragons cartoon; which i dont think is that bad. The Television Police obviously didnt think it was too much either.

Thanks Kyoto Kid and Zev0. I left the morphs untouched in that render to show what the starting point would be. I look forward to the adjustments to the morph packs Zev0.

On a side note, I don't have any computer/electronic tools yet, so I had to improvise. A grill brush for dusting old parts, instead of a paint brush, etc. I'll need to fix that, now that I have Hexagon, Or I'll be laze and find it in the store and buy them, lol.

I think you're very right there. Although one might wonder at what point the whole thing becomes unreasonable. I'm still waiting for a ban on cameras so you can't take pictures of children any more. Or maybe they'll outlaw having children, period, I mean, you gotta make sure perverts have nothing to fantasize about.

It's a joke right? That's so bad it reminds me of Boromir's horned helmet in Bakshi's Lord of the Rings. The outfit has similarities too. Now all we need are wizards with "big hair"...

what kind of stuff do you want for the kid?

After reading several contributions of this thread I think a cloth like this one would be appropriate.
Eventually it will be obligatory for the kids sooner or later.

Definitely preferable than seeing kids in a thong or undies with undress morphs set. ;)
