Anyone know where I grabbed this?

I picked this up some time ago, and like a dip, I didn't rename it in a way that I can find the page or creator again. I can't figure out how to utilize all of the accompanying files. If y'all recognize the files associated with the obj, can you send me a link or instructions to what goes where?

The only name I have for it is: Rotorplane for Scorpian

The picture looked interesting so I decided to have a look and ended up getting it myself.

I couldn't find any instructions but this is the method I worked out in Poser by trial and error. Use the file import menu option to import the obj file as a prop. If you use default settings it comes in huge, I set the size to 10% but still had to scale down afterwards.

Go to the material room, Add image maps to the diffuse and transparency channels and set the transparency value to 1. Use the image files as image sources. I don't know why there are four of them or which goes where. I am using Unbenannt - 3.jpg for tranparency since it has the full black to white range and rotortexprop1a.jpg for diffuse and this looks OK. It would be a good idea to experiment with different map allocations to see what they look like.

This gives you a disc with a sort of blurred rotating blades look. If you want to use it on the Scorpain Rotorplane then set Material 3 on the Scorpain to fully transparent to hide the fixed rotor blades, then move, rotate and resize the prop to fit. X rotation of the prop spins the blurred blades. You could use it on other rotor bladed vehicles but probably non-commercially only.

I did this in Poser since it is described as a Poser prop. You could probably do it in Studio as well. The scaling would be different since Poser has odd ideas about obj scaling In Iray you should use cutout opacity for transparency, in 3Delight it's just called opacity.

True, but WillowRaven is known for using DS for mostly commercial projects which is probably why Charlie mentioned it.

Yes I know thank you. What she and/or others may not have recognized is 'why' it would be non commercial ;-)

I know the various countries have some pretty big helicopter vehicles though, there may be something similar somewhere that could be used commercially.

Well, there's this in the store: https://www.daz3d.com/ndna2 It's similar in design although perhaps less helicopter-like. I've messed around with adjusting the Iray settings for a grittier look and was pleased with the results. And if memory serves, the cockpit opens...I think something else rotated but it's been a while since I messed around with it.

edit: Yes, the propellers, guns, etc do rotate/move.

Y'all are right :) ... I wanted to track down the creator so I could get permission. The rare times I download a non-com freebie, I make sure to mark it as such, so I knew it was; but I failed to note where I got it, lol (thanks for the assist). If y'all know of something similar that is commercial-friendly, by all means, post links here. :)

Thanks :) Will grab that, too :)
