Any steam trains out there to go with Dogz fantastic Railway sets?

Anyone know of any steam trains out there to go with Dogz fantastic Railway sets?

The railway is very much like our local Steam Railway at Havenstreet, Isle of Wight, and as my husband used to work at the railway as a trackman, I though it would be great if I could add a steam train, preferably a Southern Line tank engine, and do a render for him.

Pretty good one over at Squid that comes in .OBJ but they want 50 bucks for it! and you'd likely be messing with the Surfaces tab for while Id imagine before it rendered nicely in DS.

Isn't there a German guy over a Rendo who does a lot of trains and stuff?
theres this one but its not quite what you asked for: http://www.renderosity.com/mod/bcs/train-wwi-ng-series-for-poser-/104555/

I looked at the ones at Rendo, but they are mostly American, and I really want British ones.

Love your railway sets. I can see lots of renders using these.

    Thanks :)
As you want something quite specific, Your best bet might be to ask around in a train sim community, The Modders there model all sorts they might be able to help you out,.

Strangely enough the nearest I have seen to the little trains that run on our heritage lines up here are toy trains like this one.

There is also one at PoserDirect. a GWR steam train

    PoserDirect by MrSparky

    GWR tank engine

    Stephenson's Rocket

    http://www.poserdirect.com/vprockettrain.html

    Both very reasonable.

Also by MrSparky standard tender locomotive.

For Poser, but most of his items work well in Daz.

There's also a "WWII German VLC75 Locomotive" over at OnTarget3D.
Pretty sure the had similar ones over here in the UK too... Not particularly majestic, but it might just require some creative re-texturing.

Thanks but none of them are suitable.

I did a quick scan of Turbosquid's 6 pages of locomotive models, and surprisingly, the closest I found was a Thomas the Tank Engine model. Thomas is based on the British E-2 class. The museum has an E-1. The $15 is not bad for Turbosquid, but there are usage issues. Frankly I wonder if the person can be selling it legally.

Got any images of what you are wanting? I googled Southern Line tank engine but got nothing specific. I have a few from trainsim development that might work, l but I would have to convert them to .obj.

Yes they do look a bit like Thomas the Tank engine I suppose.

Here's a picture of W24 Calbourne, an example of the Adams LSWR O2 Class 0-4-4T

Wendy, closest I have is this one. It is around 70k of polys and not UVMapped, if interested, PM me and it's yours.

A bit late, I know, but I only just got the set today and started poking around.

For anyone still interested, you might try the Free Download section at emphigus.de -- they're oldish (Poser 7), but might work for most things.

And for a really unusual train on those tracks you could always try Spirit of Punk here.

Sorry Taozen, but it's nothing like that.

The tanks don't go all the way back to the cab.

    Hm, yea, you're right.

Speaking of trains, there is a nice set here btw, though a rather different type. Bought it myself a while ago (had it as Märklin model when I was a kid):

Yes, but again it is American.

There are too many American trains, cars etc, and not enough British ones.

..there's also this one at Rendo :

By the same PA as the Santa Fe one, but alas, only for Vue  However I PM'd him and he mentioned he received a number of requests for a Poser/Daz version so one is in the works.

Yeah models of British steam locomotives/trains are difficult to find.  I would love to have a Flying Scotsman, Mallard, or Battle of Britain Class.

There's an artist on Rendo called DryJack who seems to specialize in railroad props. Most of his stuff looks British to me. Quite a few of his models are from GWR.

He has a lot of freebies too

Particularly the track segments. But, yeah, he's got some other freeebies as well.

There are a lot of freebie trains available in https://3dwarehouse.sketchup.com/

The only problem is the conversion of the file format, if you will not be using them in Sketchup.

Below are the render from iClone 7 of some trains available there, converted with 3DXchange 7.
