Well, good luck, let us know if you reached a conclusion or need more help, everyone here is always glad to try and help out...

That sounded sappy, but the forum motto is "Auxilium indigentibus, sed metus in Penguins" which I always thought means something about helping those in need, but now I just realized might have something to do with penguins... Weird that DAZ has that carved in marble at their headquarters...

Anyway, good luck and render on!

I  manually install everything. Made this video some years ago but the layout is almost exactly the same. I also show the expanded folder structure so you can see what the structure looks like and check your downloads to make sure they look the same.

I agree with serving, content package assist is awesome, and a great help to nontechy peeps like me. Also, Novica has a good tutorial (in her art thread) on how to use it.

I was just reading this thread, here's the step by step on how to do it. It seems like a lot but it is because I baby step you through it.

...I've always just extracted to the desktop and then copied the components to their proper folders. A little more labour intensive but never had an issue.

If you are using Windows just drag the folders (Data, Runtime, People etc.) into the content directory (e.g. My Library) that already cotnains the original Data, Runtime etc. folders and you will be asked if you want to merge them - say yes. mac users, unfortunately, need to go deeper as by default the Mac will replace the existing folders with the new.

I don't have anything to add that hasn't already been well-covered, but I just wanted to say that I'm glad to see an official* Daz voice chime in offering help even though the topic is about products from a non-Daz store. That shows a great user-focused attitude on the part of Richard.

( * Moderators may not be as "official" as the other Daz crew, but from our perspective they're part of the same team.)

  • One thing I have noticed about Rendo is if you click "download all" it often doesn't download all the files and you don't get an error message about it.  You need to check after downloading that you actually downloaded all the files for the product.  Count noses so to speak ;)  If you are missing any, download those singley.

Yeah, I started downloading files individually after a bunch files that never showed up.  Some products also include Poser versions, and there's no point in downloading those at all unless you also use Poser.

Well I was used to have a dedicated library/runtime for Rendo stuff but I stopped once I had to rebuild my library. Now I have just one big runtime/library on a 2 TB SSD which seems to speed up things.

Now here's what I do with rendo files (on Mac):

    - I use a good unzipper (BetterZip) which can directly edit the zip-archives. That way I combine all archives to one single zip-file. While doing so I delete everything which is not a core folder or move all such core folders to root, i.e.
    > data
    > people
    > runtime
    > props
    > environments
    - I then alter especially the people-folder to my liking usually working with a "vendor" main folder and a folder with the "vendorname" below, i.e.
    > people/vendor/lilflame/name-of-product

    - Once that is done I install with ContentWizard (one of the best products you can buy here at DAZ). ContentWizard makes the whole installation automatic and even adds the product to smart content. Detection of file types works in most times so in Smart content everythings shows up as characterl, material, etc.

Only with characters/figures I do some final steps:

    - I uninstall the files added by ContentWizard manually
    - I alter the manifest in the installer created by ContentWizard and add the name of the store to the product name like "product (renderosity)"
    - I change the filename to the DIM standard like 00100000-01_name.zip
    - I place the zip in the packages folder of DIM

That way I can now reinstall the character/figure again with one click and uninstall it also with one click if DAZ gets slow due to too many characters.
