Trick Studio into thinking GF 8.1 is GF 8?
in The Commons
So I have scripts that work on G8, but won't work on 8.1 simply because of the name change.
Is there any way to trick Daz (or, more specifically, the scripts) into thinking 8.1 is actually 8?
I tried to change the "Scene ID" but that didn't do the trick, sadly.

I think it depends on what the script is doing.
The files for 8.1 are saved in a different path than those for 8.
It's from Renderosity. It applies physics to certain, uh, body parts.
I wonder if it then uses the UV layout.
Do you know if the character you are trying on uses the new UV layout?
If that is the case, I am not aware of a method to change that,
I've gotten 8.1 updates for two products from Renderosity. Maybe try updating?
I don't believe it uses a UV layout at all. Darn.
No update yet for this one. It add gravity to breasts.
I suppose it applies dForce settings to the breasts?
dForce settings are applied to surfaces, so the problem is probably linked to the fact that the "torso" surface from G8F has been split into "body" and "head" surfaces for G8.1F.
Oh, Breastjig? Right. I just sent the vendor a sitemail and hope to hear back.
Now see that's valuable insight. I think this is the first time I have actually read that the uv maps were changed, so how are G8 maps getting applied to 8.1? Sorry I don't mean to derail threads, but these are the kinds of insights that really help in understanding all the change.
Well G8.1 does include the G8 base UVs, what's different is the material zones.
I don't know exactly how that's done, but obviously DS is able to "translate" a duf preset from G8 when used on G8.1. At a guess, surfaces from G8.1 figures include alternate surface names that can be used to match source and target surfaces when using a preset.
It's not a new feature, DS was already able to do that when using V4 presets on G2F which had different surfaces names.
Likewise about 2 weeks ago. Haven't heard back yet, unfortunately.
The product doesn't use dforce, but the actual mesh.
Yeah, pretty sure the only reason it don't work, is because g 8.1 is not on the list of things it looks for. I cracked it open with a dll reader thingie, but couldn't really figure out how to fix it like you can a script. Know nothing about hex editing.
Try this script on a G8.1 Figure.
This work great. Use script, to "hack" the ID, apply pec pose, unhack. Brilliant!
Thank you very much.
Thank you. This worked, except for the "Restore" scene ID didn't actually restore the fgure to the original 8.1
Thanks man, it lets me run the plugin after runnin that script. You kick ass. I don't think the restore is working, but I really have no reason to want to restore, so that don't bother me any.
Make sure figure is selected, I'll verify script logics.
Cheers.
