Does anyone have the original version of the Sara freebie? Sara 1, NOT Sara 2.

I believe I do. Sara 1 is no longer available. However, there is a morph Sara221.zip which can be used for Sara 1. Have you done a Google search for "jalberts" ?
I have those, but would like the original 2 MB version. I like the original a little better.
Sara 1 was located on the old forums, which are now gone. The morph for Sara 2 to look like Sara 1 can be found on this page: http://www.jalberts.net/francemi/3dSC/

Posted at the same time.
Sara 1 was retired and is no longer available. The Sara221 file on the 3dsc (and jalberts) site morphed Sara 2 to look like Sara 1. But how can we even get Sara 2? Or will she, sadly, no longer be available?
As indicated below , It was available directly on the old forum site but those archives have been down for months.
You can still get the pc file from the web archive:

Thanks. I'm glad to know Sara 2 at least is still available.
Charlie

@CajunBeauty I couldn't get it to install, did it work for you?
Mickster, a few things to know:
1. All of the old DAZ content was distributed as self-extracting archives - compressed packages. That is why they are executables (.exe) files. That is why the term "install" came to be associated with content files. Technically, content is not installed in the same sense that Windows programs are installed, since content is merely extracted from the compressed archives. Once extracted, the contents can then be manually placed in their correct folders within the DAZ Studio content library. Alternatively the extractor will also provide the option of extracting the contents directly to your content library. If its not "installing" correctly, I am going to assume that you are inputting incorrect information during the extraction process.
2. Being older content, it is in Poser format. That does not mean it won't work in DAZ Studio, but merely the files themselves are in DAZ Studio-readable Poser formats, and should be placed in the Runtime folder structure within your content library. Once properly extracted to the correct locations, they would be found within DAZ Studio under the Content Library tab (no Smart Content for these), under Poser Formats.
I don't know what your DAZ content library might be called or where it is located on your hard drive(s), but hopefully you know that. It matters. Here's how to "install" or extract the content:
Run the executable (double click ps_pe041b_Sara.exe). The Bitrock self-extractor will start up.
A popup will appear indicating "searching for installed components". That means that it is looking for a DAZ Studio installation so it knows where to put the files. However, this is very old content and intended for older versions of DAZ Studio, so its not going to find what its looking for, where it expects to find it. So click "Cancel" on that popup and the extraction will proceed.
Click through the setup screens until you reach the one where you are asked to input the Destination Directory. That will be your DAZ Studio content library. Type in the correct path or browse to the location.
Click Next, and you should be done.
Now, open DAZ Studio, and, if everything has been extracted correctly, you should find Sara under the Content Library tab within the Poser Formats category. To load the figure into a scene, click Figures > 3D Universe - Sara > !Sara. Sara should now be loaded. You will need to select various nodes (body parts) under the Parameters tab to see and access the various morphs that are available for the figure. She's pretty basic, as-is.
They are not actually self-extracting archives as such, they are Bitrock installers. A self-extracting archive can usually be opened in an archive application.
That is technically true, Richard, but even though the Bitrock installers were originally intended for packaging and distributing programs, they were essentially used by DAZ3D as self-extracting archives for distributing content. In Windows parlance, nothing was technically "installed' since no changes to the actual system were involved.
Mac and PC version of Sara are available here. March 26,2021

Some old Daz installers don't run in windows 10. I had to get virtualbox and load Windows XP to open them. Once extracted the contend does work in Win10.

That's strange as I just downloaded and installed it, W10 home 64 build 20H2
I have no idea whether the problem I mention is the reason it won't install for mickster13. I'm just mentioning the possibility.
I agree. There were several cute characters for Sara 1 that don't work on 2.
I have it, and even managed to have both versions installed simultaneously (by editing the CR2 file a bit and renaming one of the two .obj-files.)
I remember The Girl 3 was the reason for Sara to be modified.
I even still have the original installers, but as they are copyright-protected, only DAZ3D can distribute Sara legally.
I think there were at least a couple of versions of installers back then, the newer ones may work where the older ones might not. Sometimes they refused to work just because you were using your own folder structure and/or the installer didn't find some other product in a folder where it was looking for it, which made installing morphs and V3/V4/M3/M4 based characters interesting at times.
Some installers were looking for "Poser.exe" at the root of your product library, but could be fooled with a text file renamed as such.
I'll post the icon the next time it happens.
