depends on your definition of hand painted. This is what i think you mean https://discover.therookies.co/2019/07/21/how-to-create-your-own-hand-painted-3d-characters/
and for me, no, it's too stylized and toony.
I'm all for more stylised characters. But the main problem I see is that, like Sakura 8 or Dwayne 8 (and to a lesser extent The Girl, Toon Hero, and similar charcters) they'd be rather lonely in the world.
That is why all of us need to recruit new users for DS and DS content. While I have zero interest in purchasing stylized characters like Sakura 8, Dwayne 8, the girl, etc, I am all for them existing and being in the store for those that do. In order for them to flourish and not be lonely, the PAs need to know there is a market large enough to take the risk of producing them.
I work in a wide variety of styles for book illustration ... I prefer historically accurate realism ... but sometimes cartoon and other styles are the best way to convey a message. I have also made some meshes and some maps of my own so I know how much it takes to make good material. I would certainly purchase hand painted materials so to have it available for projects. There are plenty of fantasy lovers here also. I cannot say if this would be widely popular ... but it would be something that is not yet here.
I think that 2.5 million number is a tad high by about 98%
I do like stylized characters too.

Hand-painted meshes as opposed to doing them how? Do you mean the actual mesh (s in figure creation/design) or painting on the mesh (as in creating textures)?
Only a few hundred to a few thousand DAZ customers read the forums.
I like that toon 3D style and plenty of other toon styles.
I like realism too but I never use it except to occasionally see how much further DAZ 3D or it's PAs have gotten in that respect. I recently bought Victoria 8.1 and Michael 8.1 for that reason. However, it never fails that when I go back and look at what I thought were the most realistic DAZ characters ever after a few months they look toony to me.
I'm not too keen on the toony look. But I do like a hand painted look that recreates a Norman Rockwell, Tom Fritz or Frank Frazetta look to the characters.
I do like the link and tutorial FSMCDesigns posted. Many thanks for that.
Yeah I love the handpainted style (does Bette count as handpainted? she is literally handpainted)
worth noting you can retexture some stuff for a more toony look but I would love some more stylized stuff esp scenery
I also love the lowpoly look
A hand-painted texture can look more realistic or more stylized, depending on various creative decisions. It's not like "hand painted" means one particular thing, even if some people making tutorials seem to have similar ideas about it.

I took that to mean painted in software with a tablet as opposed to generated using a procedural texture or a shader, but the demos all seem to point to a more stylized, hand-painted look to the finished surface. That last part is fine as far as it goes, but also sort of like saying "All character designs should look like anime characters."
These are somw hand painted stuff i like

Apparently, according to the available information, yes.

What is the point of this thread? Is the OP looking for popular support for making stuff in this style or looking for stuff to buy?

Cool collection! While I like what I see, I woudn't want any of that to render in DS. One thing I love about sketchfab, is I can view all of those in VR which is very cool. Too bad DAZ doesn't have an option like that.

Exactly and so perfectly true. Hand painted does NOT always mean TOON!!!!
just like a pencil or brush doesn not move on it's own, an hand moves and controls a mouse. It is hand painted.
Not sure why I have tripple posts above. Only posted ONCE!!!!
You could post your meshes at sketchfab and connect it to your content page here.
I've seen youtube links here .
I see hand painted stuff every where but not hear. That seems odd to me.
I think you see hand-painted work here more than you know, but the work does not look quite as stylized as in your examples. As Wendy pointed out, that sort of content is readily available. A lot of it should play well in DS, but may require some effort to adapt it. I've seen some at Rendo and on other sites. You do have to be careful as some of the work I've seen is actually ripped from video games. That can be a problem.
