Paypal issue - Disappointed in DAZ

What gets me is that daz has worked with PayPal for as long as I have been doing 3D art (2007 or so) and they know all about this issue with PayPal and what will trigger this issue but does nothing to prevent it.

That's just it-- they don't know everything that will trigger it. This can be caused simply by high sales according to Paypal when I asked what triggered the review of my purchase. It can be a word (though they won't give you the word, you have to guess which one), unusual purchasing activity (this is usually user-end), unusually high sales (this is site-end), etc. Anything that triggers their algorithm. High sales are likely the culprit during March Madness. The last time this was a widespread issue was the PA Sale.

    This...!

We have a list of stuff we actively avoid, but yes, this list is seemingly a moving target - and we're always have to be reactive, rather than proactive.

I agree, risk management and the SMART-principle seems to be lost on them, and the customer gets frustrated. You should never, ever, frustrate your customers. I really don't get it how this can be such a consistent thing with a commercial operation, and I really (!) feel for the Daz customer service folks who have to bear the brunt. I love, love, love, the product, love the folks who help out on the forums and customer service, but,...wow does Daz make it hard to love the Daz company.

I can not make ANY purchases now.

Not with my Visa card nor PayPal and now can not even purchase a gift card to pay that way.

    Not sure what to do.

I was going to buy the new Goblin.

So frustrating, this is going on since the Egyptian Bundle came out for Kleopatra.

I'm not saying it's this site or others I frequent, but I've had numerous Visa cards compromised.  When I switched to PayPal I've had trouble free purchases ever since.  Visa even flagged a purchase because I bought a deal, then realized I wanted something else.  They didn't like the sudden second transaction.  With PP I can spend money all night ... not that's that is necessarily a good thing...

Funny thing is I use PayPal to purchase items from Renderotica, so why flag adult content here.

At a guess, renderotica pays extra fees so they can use PayPal with adult content.
Anyway, the problem is not just adult content, it's "any word PayPal's algorithm doesn't like". For example IIRC there was a problem with a set of shoes because the product name referred to the fact that they had Cuban heels and well, of course Cuba = bad... frown

Actually 'rotica is set up so that all sales go through CGbytes Storefront and all items that might get flagged as adult or anything that throws red flags with payment processors gets sanitized as it is added to the cart.

Have you received the money back to your card/bank account? I haven't and now I don't know who to contact, Daz, Paypal or my bank.

Most likely Paypal. It depends on the status of the transaction. Anything other than completed will be on Paypal's end. If it's completed, then Daz.

And yes, I've already been refunded, but I use Paypal funds. You might have a balance in Paypal you need to transfer to your bank.

So is anyone else still impacted by this/?

I am in the third week right now of not being able to order normally. The process for solving this is now definitely with Daz CS as they asked me to get a (240 USD) gift card to resolve the issue (long story).

So now they have my money, CS ignores my requests for information and I still am impacted. They will go home in a few hours so this will mean another few days while this stays unresolved. This is no way manage the expectations of your customers, it's beyond amateurish to be frank. To be clear I do not blame the employees, if things are this bad and this systematic it has to be an organizational leadership issue.

Clearly naming something Ancient treasure or whatever it was, made them think we were all buying illegal Egyptian artifacts.

To get around it, name the files something plain or abbreviated on the receipts.

Well, approaching the forth week of this issue, I am pretty close to being completly done with it. I can't believe these things happens at such a consistent rate, Daz and PAs must be losing revenue because of this. How are these things not being a priority?

This is a major priority and we have no other customers will this issue any longer.  As noted above, we didn't cause the issue with Paypal, they didn't like our naming of a product, but have since whitelisted those products.  Please send me your ticket number so we can further look into your specific issue.

  • If I might make a suggestion:  Buy a gift certificate in the amount you need and use Paypal for that, in which case no product names ever reach Paypal.

I very rarely buy content itself drectly from Paypal because this keeps popping up.  It's not the first time, it will not be the last.

Have you phoned Paypal?  I've had cause to contact them a couple of times, and found their operators to be friendly and helpful.

    Just a thought.
