Paypal issue - Disappointed in DAZ

So currently Daz Production is aware of the problem with the Cleopatra's Bundles and Paypal, and their reaction would be having one of their Employee/Admin (according to DAZ_Rawb's About page) to post this in the Common Forum ????

How about putting a note in the PRODUCT DESCRIPTION PAGE, where people will definitely see when they're trying to make a purchase ? How about RENAMING the bundles RIGHT NOW, so no other customer will be affected ? With Daz Production being the owner of this website, and with the Sales changing everyday (I'll probably lose that 20 usd store credit tomorrow), how about doing something that actually helps the customer, and not "here are the takeaways ... In the forum after you stepped on the trap". Oh and to the Daz employees that will come here and tell me to SUBMIT A TICKET, I'm sure some imaginary customer service would work on SATURDAY, but they would probably get back to me couple of days later anyway. Oh and guess what according to my bank, I'll get the money back in another couple of days (but I guess that's my problem)

Next time something happens, react professionally so that I can feel Daz Production as a company actually care a little about my interest. As someone who's spent nearly $20k on your company, I'm disappointed.

I apologize for the incovience.  We did rename the product once we determined the issue, however it required whitelisting from Paypal as well, which they gave today.  Thank you for being a loyal customer and your understanding while we waited for Paypal to resolve the issues on their end.

Now that its been sorted i hope everyone inconvienced will be able to purchase their order at the initial dicounted rate and their order status corrected?

Correct, but you will need to reach out to customer service and they can help.

When ever I had an issue with purchasing, DAZ bent over backwards to accomodate me. I've NEVER had any problems with sales or tech support. It was always a very pleasurable experience and the staff were polite and extremely courteous.

    Frankly, I'm disappointed in PayPal.

Not sure why any text string from a vendor that we have a purchase history spanning many years should suddenly be getting blocked with "There was an error processing your transaction"... and 'pending' in PayPal.

As has been mentioned elsewhere, PayPal has algorithms to (theoretically) keep people from buying illicit items through their platform - like p0rn, or in this case, actual ancient artifacts/coins. :P It has happened before with  other Daz models (characters, IIRC). I wouldn't have been surprised if this had happened with the new Pot Plants (meaning "in pots") since marijuana, while now legal in a number of US states, is still illegal at the federal level.

    Yes the algorithm is stupid)

I still have problems buying here with PayPal.

It happened to me and I would have thought either Paypal or Daz would have sent me an email explaining the issue. Instead I had to wait to see if the suspended transaction would eventually clear and wonder if the problem was with Paypal, Daz, or my credit card associated with Paypal. Anyway I added my credit card directly to Daz to bypass Paypal and got the bundles the next day.

yeah, I stopped using paypal for many of these types of reasons and haven't had any issues since.

I had the problem purchasing through PayPal, and reached out to support but was not told why only that it happened to other customers.
I was told that they could not help me with the sale prices in my cart because I didn't screenshot my cart with the prices.

I had the problem with PayPal again just now, so I came here to the forums to see what was up and found this thread.
It seems the whitelisting is not working.

Currently paypal is still holding my money, therefore I can't buy anything now. I'm not saying paypal is good, I hate it that my only payment option is paypal. And this issue with the Cleopatra's Bundles is no doubt Paypal's fault.

I'm mad at Paypal, but I'm disappointed at Daz's reaction to this. Please understand that I'm only disappointed because I was very pleased with Daz customer's support to the point that my expectation was very high.

Issues will occur and in this case, it's not Daz fault. But INSTEAD of putting a note on their store (Orange banner, product description page etc...) that "Currently Paypal is not an option for purchasing the Cleopatra's Bundles" and saving everyone from any trouble, they posted a thread here on the commons forum. I created this thread to tell them that it's not a good practice to use the forum like this while you have so many other options. Now everytime I want to buy something, I will have to go to the forum to check if there's any issues that Daz is already aware of??? When just a simple action from your company can help the customers and you didn't do that, somebody has to ask why.

I'm always happy with customer service here at Daz. I'm hoping that other departments start to catchup.

TLDR: Not Daz's fault, but disappointed in their reaction. Hope they stop using forum for store issue notification.

  • The problem is, it's not even certain it's the Cleopatra bundle's fault. Paypal is extremely difficult for vendors to contact, and even as a user, getting any information from them beyond, "It was flagged for review," is nigh impossible. One freebie this week was Family Hot Tub. I tried a transaction with the Vizier bundle and the Hot Tub and *that* got an error processing, so... One thing I dragged out of Paypal the last time this happened was that when they see a larger number of sales than expected, they start flagging them. So it could just be that Daz as a whole has a lot more sales than last week and Paypal thought *that* was suspicious. Unfortunately, Paypal isn't known for their transparency.

all those corporations are, Youtube and Facebook falsely flagging stuff for content matches when using my own performances of public domain tunes such as Jingle bells scored by ear to my own unique midi arrangement  is the worst

the best one is when someone went after me for something I created and someone else copied and uploaded

I suppose the only "safe" way to buy via paypal is to get a store gift card via paypal, and then use that for any "real" stuff in the store.

Yeah.  That way all Paypal sees is the amount, and not what assets you spent it on.  You just have to apply the same discipline to spending Store Credit as you do paying any other way, which isn't easy, especially if you purchase gift cards at a discount, rather than as-you-go to cover specific purchases.

I ran into this error too after years of using PayPal for purchases and only problem I ever had was with multiple charges for the Platinum subscription. If this is going to be an ongoing problem though I am going to have to start using other payment methods.

Funny thing is I use PayPal to purchase items from Renderotica, so why flag adult content here.

At a guess, renderotica pays extra fees so they can use PayPal with adult content.
Anyway, the problem is not just adult content, it's "any word PayPal's algorithm doesn't like". For example IIRC there was a problem with a set of shoes because the product name referred to the fact that they had Cuban heels and well, of course Cuba = bad... frown

What items do you have in your carts? You should probably take a screen shot, showing the current prices, and open a Sales Support ticket.

  • I have run into this problem with paypal and daz.

    so what the fix?

Just a word of warning. I have been trying to purchase the Cleopatra Royal Vizier Bundle along with Elaheh HD for Genesis 8 Female. I tried a few times over the weekend to se if the issue was fixed and each time got an "error with transaction'" message. However, when I checked my bank account, for each time I tried, the charge went through so I have in fact paid for that order multiple times without realizing it. I have a ticket in but it will probably be at least Monday before I get any response.

  • so i waited and got an email from paypal saying payment has been reversed

    mmmmmm

    I'm asking, because I don't understand.

Why do people use Paypal when they have a credit card?

Because it is cheaper to use paypal conversion rates than credit card conversion rates plus the extra fee for using it "abroad". In my case its between 2 and 3.5%, depending on the card (Mastercard, Visa or AmEx)

For me, the main reason is better security - credit card details are not stored (and potentially hacked) with a number of different online vendors, but with Paypal only.
DAZ-specifically, I pay with store credit only, except for the gift cards themselves of course; this seems to me the easiest and technically safest way, because there's only 1 'real' DAZ to outside payment site transaction which can go potentially wrong, and all the rest is 'inside DAZ' transactions charging against the store credit. Have been faring very well this way so far, so can recommend it.

Well, I have my Visa card here at the store too because I did not use PayPal for a long while.

But I get the transaction error message also when I use my Visa card.

I'm from Europe, credit cards are not as widely used in Europe as in the US, hence PayPal.

What gets me is that daz has worked with PayPal for as long as I have been doing 3D art (2007 or so) and they know all about this issue with PayPal and what will trigger this issue but does nothing to prevent it.
