BadKitteh Co's Back!

She of Classic Biker Gear, Elita Cyberpunk, Exoline, Bootleggers (my favourite version is the V4-G2F! which could really use a G8F incarnation), Enigma Redux, and Apteromata fame has finally come back to us after over a year's absence with Toolboi Boots! If you don't have the Toolboi Winter Collection jumpsuit for M4 (available @ Renderosity), it autofits beautifully to G3M (haven't tried it on G8M), and it still looks great with a basic Uber Iray conversion.

Please join me in welcoming her back. We cannot afford to lose great PAs.

I can ALWAYS use men's footwear; so, thanks! (If you don't know about Hipster Boots [calf-high wingtip boots! omg!] check'em out at the other store).

Welcome back, dear Connie! Please don't let this be a one-off.

that looks like an awesome gun.

    Nice composition too.

  • Welcome Back!! Just a question...cause I really don't know where to ask, but since on the subject of Toolboi. I have bought both the Summer Toolboi and Winter Toolboi for M4 and they have converted nicely to G8M using Riversoft Art's converter. I am astonished at the fantastic morphs included...I wish every piece of male clothing had these morphs. That aside, if anyone owns these can you please tell me where I might find the material sets. I have searched high and low, and although I could probably insert them manually from the folder, I'm not sure where they would be placed in surfaces. Any help would be greatly appreciated...really want to get using these great clothes.

    I only have the Winter set, and the mats are in the Poser runtime under Pose> M4Toolboi;

and yes the attention to detail and the numerous morphs she inludes in her sets are what make her stuff so worth the cost, and set her up amongst the great for content creation especially male stuff.

Hey Scorpio...thanks ever so much...of course, I said I hunted high and low, but I think in my mind that they would never be in that folder. Thanks again and I hope with the Toolboi Boots she has just released (phenominal) that a 2021 rendition for the Toolboi outift will come out. Honestly, I am beside myself with the quality which harkens back before I had even thought about 3D as a hobby, but these clothing sets have 'got it going on!'. It makes me want to invest in older model clothing for guys even more because they had the looks as well as functionality, and actually brought 'sexy back' to Daz males...something which is SORELY missing in today's market.

The boots look nice.  How well do they fit G8F?

    Also: Welcome back Badkitteh!

Thank you. I can only hope the PA decides to sell it here.

I have no idea how to install Renderosity Poser stuff. I saw some instructions, but they could as well have been written in Ancient Egyptian. I am afraid that unless it is DIM ready, I cannot use it.

Seriously? If it's poser items, then just create a new folder, then unzip it to that folder and then in DS create a new path to the poser runtimes

Seriously. I don't know what folder, where, how to create a path to the folder, or what even "poser runtimes" is supposed to mean.

Yes, I am a dumb user, only able to use stuff installed via DIM. Sorry.

@FSMCDesigns, thanks, Michael, you beat me to it. @watchdog79 I use 7-zip (free) to unzip files [right click on downloaded product file and choose option that has same name as file]. You can create and organise folders that fit your mindset. Then right click on the Content Library tab, and from the menu that appears choose Content Directory Manager; a new window will open. Select Daz Format or Poser Format (depending on which one your folder is---I have some folders that have both types; so, for them I have to do two set-ups, one for Daz & one for Poser). Click add [something, can't remember what], and you will be able to navigate to the folder that you want to patch into the library (if the Poser legacy file system is new to you, make sure to right down the folder hierarchy for later convenience). After doing so, click Apply or Done or whatever the button is, and the window will close.

So, now in the top lefthand corner of your Content Library, you can click either Poser or Daz and go to the folder path you added, and load as usual.

Thank you for the explanation, I appreciate you trying to help me, but after unpacking the archive (which I naturally know how to), you totally lost me.

I am not sure how many users totally dependent on DIM like me are there, but I simply don't understand how to install things manually, because I don't understand how the files and directories of Daz Library need ot be structured for Daz Studio to recognize them. Basically, if it is not Smart Content installed by DIM, it is out of my league. It is frustrating to see how little I understand, but that is how it is.sad

@watchdog79 I'm not at my Daz machine now, but if you follow my instructions in front of Studio, you should get it.

I have a folder for Downloaded files and within that folder are folders for each 3rd party store I use (Renderosity, TurboSquid, etc.). Within each store's folder, I have a NEW folder into which I download products from that store).

I have categorised folders for types of 3rd party content in order to minimise searching for things; e.g., Genesis 8, Genesis 8 Clothing, Footwear, Hair, Backlot [environments, sets], Weapons, Vehicles, etc. Once I link these folders to the Daz Studio Content Library by using the Content Directory Manager method I described above, all I have to do is drag and drop new products into their appropriate folders, and they will be right there in my Content Library under either Daz Format Files or Poser Format Files.

Smart Content is so dumb and so inconsistently implemented that I just use Content Library / Products / 1-Z to find stuff from the Daz store (but of course, I have to know the actual name of the product to do so, and there are at least two products that have different names in Studio than the name they have in the store.

It looks so good on G8F! I use Fit Control to make the jeans hiphuggers. That outfit makes my heroine look and feel like a badass, just standin' there. Yup, that's right, you talkin' to me?

    And then the trenchcoat?

The Poser runtime structure is a bit arcane, largely, I gather, because it accumulated along with changes to the program between versions. Poser was always big on backwards compatibility, so when things were added, older things were still left in place.

If you're using Poser content in Studio, Studio doesn't care where the thumbnails live. So the geometry files need to stay where the package shows them in the geometry folder and the textures need to stay in their place in the textures folder, but all of the files with thumbnails which normally live in all of those random library folders can all be re-organized into whatever arrangement makes sense to the user. I tend to group the whole caboodle into one folder with subfolders and tuck it into the characters folder.

There might be exceptions, but for the most part, if a file has an accompanying thumbnail, it's just a trigger/pointer that tells the program where to go find the actual content where it lives in the folders that need to be left alone.

..yeah that's why I built custom runtimes as there were no file naming conventions back then (and still aren't)

BTW have the original Tool Girl and Aptero Bundle as well.

@watchdog79  if you want to know how to install manually, I made a video showing you how to do that. Create a folder on your desktop and put the file in there, open the folder and unzip/extract here is the option you want. It will unzip the file to that folder, then follow the video. I made it a long time ago, my first audio and the sound will need to be turned up to hear it. Since the path might be different now since I was using Daz 4.5 at the time, you only need to go to Start - Computer - Documents - DAZ 3D - Studio - My Library and just follow the video from there. It's best you don't have Daz open when you do this unless you know how to do a refresh. I don't use Daz Content Library like so many others so the end of the video is not important to you.

The boots look so good and the level of detail is amazing. I hope we see more like this in the store. It's not easy to find good looking shoes for males in the store. I usually struggle if I have put together a realistic outfit with lots of details but the shoes just won't match the outfit sometimes. It's nice to have these.

Steel toe can be turned off or just the spike rivets. Nearly every piece of the boot can be turned off in the surfaces tab. It is a great boot, highly recommended!

Help me out fellow Connie fans.

She used to have a motorcycle pose set which went great with the motorbike gear she produced. It does not appear to be for sale here any longer and I cannot for the life of me remember what it was called. Any help coming up with it greatly appreciated it as I cannot find it trolling through my orders and may be looking right passed it. I cannot remember if it was G3 or G8F.
