I just got a PM that says:

Miss. Kathleen kelhi, chief operating officer SG.SSB notify you amount US $14.5 million will relocate on your name as Foreign Business Partner and protected observance, Contact private email address concern funds details satisfactory???
.

Woohoo!!! Now I can buy all the toys I want. Let's see, Maya, zBrush, and Marvelous Designer would be nice additions. Don't worry. I won't forget all you little people now that I'm wealthy.

Please forward the PM to Richard Haseltine so the person who sent it can be dealt with. Thankyou. However if this PM was dated 10th July then it will probably have already been dealt with.

I'm not sure whether to award points for a hilariously bad translation, or take them away for wanton cruelty to what I suspect might be the English language.

Doesn't anyone send despairing personalised messages from the widows/orphans/bank managers of recently deceased African dictators any more? A creatively badly written 419 scam message is always good for a laugh.

No way. You're just trying to trick me into sharing my fortune with Richard then the two of you are running off to some tropical paradise with MY money. Nice try, but I'm on to you!

But Ghastly, surely you will applaud my constant praise of your work (when was the last time I did that????? hmmmm), not to mention telling everyone to check out your models (did I tell anyone?????) oh and don't forget all the help I have given you over time (scratches head searching memory), after all we are (scrolls up....female) best friends for life. I would never dream of asking you for money and friendship is far more important that money (hopes she didn't notice how I chocked on those words). Congratulations on your big win and look forward to all the new work you do with your new toys.

Hilarious. I mean, I wish all of you could get Maya and so on, but those junk mails... Hilarious. A hilarious example of genuine stupidity only a supposedly sentient human being could produce.

Oh, good. I'm hosting the Freebie Challenge next month, and we could always use some GCs for prizes... No, wait - why am I thinking small? With that kind of money, you could commission a one-off model from Stonemason as a challenge prize.

This is one of the few situations in which I am thankful for the obtuseness (or perhaps obtusity?) of the English language. For people who are experienced users and readers of English, ineptitudes and incongruities stick out like a sore thumb.

However, to view the other side of the coin, I'm sure that that is a reason that we hear about so many suckers getting taken by these slimeballs. Precisely because they can't see the ineptitudes and incongruities.

But I'm also sure that the "Wizard's First Rule" is in play here too.

There is an old expression: you cannot cheat a truly honest man.

Many victims of con-artists become victims because they have larceny in their hearts. The con-artist plays on their greed.

Sadly not true - the "Microsoft support" calls, for example, don't target dishonesty but merely ignorance. The "can't con an honest man" is largely there in fiction to make stories about cons palatable.

Precisely. There is no ill intent on the part of, say, an 80 year old woman who is called up out of the blue, told there is a virus on her system - and believes them, then pays them who knows how much to 'clean" the computer.

This thread brings up an interesting question though...

...I wonder how much it would cost to buy literally everything in the Daz store. Maybe one of the math guru's could crunch some numbers. Just curious to know if my inevitable lottery win would cover it.

Well, the SKUs haven't quite hit 20,000 (and some of those are different versions of the same thing, or different bundle options, or vaulted or withdrawn items). Assuming an average price of $25, which seems high, then the whole lot would be under half-a-million dollars.

...well considering that a number of items require software which isn't sold here, to make it all useful, you'd have to figure in the costs of the following:

    Poser10 or PoserPro 2014
    PhotoShop CS6 (perpetual licence)
    Lightwave
    ZBrush
possibly Vue Studio or at the very least Vue Esprit.

It would also be rather complicated if you want to eliminate any duplication, since there are pro/advanced versions of several of the software products and Pro/Pro Studio bundles that include individual content products. You could simply eliminate all bundles but where characters are concerned, you don't get the "toast" and some pose sets if you do.

...of course if I ever did hit a lotto, I'd be looking at the likes of Modo, ZBrush, Lightwave. Octane Render, and Photoshop CS.

Oh, and a custom built workstation using dual Xeon2687s (32 processor threads total) on a Supermicro MBD-X9DR3-LN4F+-O MB with 24 DDR3 1600 slots, and x5 PCI 3.0x16 slots, 768 GB memory, Dual nVidia Quado K6000 (each w/2880 CUDA Cores and 12GB GDDR5 - that should be able to handle rendering big scenes in Octane) 600GB boot SSD, at least one set of dual 4TB HDDs in RAID setup and a dual 32" display setup

...yeah, there's the Mac Pro "coffee can" but that only supports 64 GB memory, 24 processor threads, and a maximum of 2GB GDDR5 (ATI which does not employ CUDA technology)

ZBrush, fell in love with it the first time I saw a product video for it about 3 years ago. Sadly I have to use the free program Sculptris to do anything like ZBrush. Think I would also get Carrara since it make such wonderful environment sets.

$260,000 if you purchased every active item in the store at list price.... but I'll give you a great deal. If someone wants to buy everything at once I'll let you purchase it for 50% off ;-)

I'm pretty sure Ghastly comic is rich enough to buy the entire store for everyone who has posted in this thread (with my generous 50% discount).

Well, considering typical DAZ price fluctuations & sales it would also depend on the season, month, day and time of day and phase & color of the moon.

Sounds like an idea for a Triple Goddess set for Genesis 2 Female(s):

Week 1: Maiden Huntress for Teen Josie 6
Week 2: Silver Mother for Olympia 6
Week 3: Crone Wisdom for Victoria 6 (Requires Zev0's Aging Morphs For Genesis 2 Female)

Buy all three to get "Black Lilith" free! 30% Discount for PC+ members! :cheese:
