I am trying to create a modified version/color of an existing MFD texture, so I modified the mat in photoshop.
But now tat I am trying to load it into the QoA to MFD utility, it's telling me no mat can be found.
What am I doing wrong?

Normally it is easy to change diffuse color...
but I don't understand some points of your question:
What is "QoA"?
Which program do you use? Poser or DazStudio?
Ah... ok, I found it. And I have it.... I will have a look if I can help you....I think I never used it ;)
I'm using DS4.6 ...
This product allows one to take an existing texture for the MFD and apply it to the Queen of Ages Daz dynamic dress: http://www.daz3d.com/mfd-to-qoa
Problem is, the existing textures are not quite what I was as far as color. So I loaded the MFD in one daz window and applied my own variation of the color I want. I saved the surface jpeg, but don't know what to do from there to get the plugin to recognize the new texture.
I use it a lot, but never with my own texture ... lol.
hmm.... I found something in my product Library that could be helpful using MFD textures on QoA ?

With this update, you can use Morphing Fantasy Dress templates (V4, V3, Girl, A3, or Laura) on the Daz Dynamics Queen of Ages Dress!
Right. That's what I am using, and know how to use it, normally. What I don't know is how to properly save a texture for the mfd ... lol.
You can change textures very easy in DazStudio with the surface tab. I do that very often. When you have the QoA with the texture you want, but wrong color, but you know where you have the changed one you can change the diffuse, ok, you have to do this for all 8 areas but it works good for me
May this help?
When I try to alter the color, it negates the applied script ...
I will have a look on it .... minute please...
Thanks for the help, btw :D
wow, I don't get any texture on the "Queen of Ages - MDF".......
funny....
Did you get the texture with the original color on the QoA?
Which texture you uses?
The original texture is calle 'forest gown', and yes, it loads, though it loads scrambled, and fixing the UV set needs flip-flopped to correct itself in DS4.6.
This time, for some crazy reason (maybe because I had the textured mfd still in the scene), selecting the textured areas and telling the diffuse surface to see the other dress, it worked.
Now, what I don't have an existing texture that just needs a color swap? How do I make an original texture for the MFD and save it to show up in the content window, so I can create more realistic textures?
you can take a template (for example you can find one here http://www.snowsultan.com/3.html) and then create an texture in Photoshop.
Then you could put it on the dress by using the surface tab and then .... hmm.... save as Material preset so you can use it next time
I made two screen shots
Of corse you could make a texture direcly for the QoA. I don't find a template for it, but you could take an texture and take that as pattern for a new one
Or you could use Fabricator and change the texture and just use a different transparencey map .......
Oh yeah and when you make your own textures make sure to change the name of the texture so as not to overwrite the original, even when you are just changing the color.
Well I tried to test this but my QoA doesn't seem to be working like it did. All the maps are screwed up and I have no idea why this is happening. It used to work a treat.
Any hoo QoA works by loading a .ds, .dsa or PZ2 mat pose. So the way I would do it is to load MFD, load you new texture, save as a Depreciated Material preset and use that in the QoA conversion. Duf files won't work at all, well mine doesn't.
Or as suggested do the conversion and then manually replace the textures via the Surfaces Pane.
The screwey map thing is the UV setting. Just switch it to default then back to mfd and it rights itself. The only reason I know this is it happens to me, too, and DraagonStorm told me what to do :D
What I really need to do is figure out how to make my own md textures, making my dynamics options practically endless :D
LOL slap head time. I never had this issue before so I never thought to look at the UV mapping. Thanks for that info
I never had a problem when using it in DS3, but it was never updated for CS4 ... but it's an easy enough fix once I learned about it :D
Nope no option to change UVs on MFD - QoA after or before the conversion. Just Default UV listed.
I will have to see if it still works in DS3.1
I tested the conversion in DS3.1 32bit and all works fine.
No matter what I try it doesn't work in DS4.6.3.52 64Bit
