UV mapping question

I am trying to re-create this "icon" (i.e. medieval painting) as a 3-D object. Using Blender I was able to create the object, but (as the Hexagon view shows) the UV map is wanky (because the geometry of the object is wanky). I tried "welding" it . . . but I lack the experience with Hexagon/Blender to see how I could unify all the odd geometry into one simple surface (where I can project the icon). Suggestions would be appreciated.

Just use a simple box mapping and call it done. No need for anything sophisticated.
if you just need quick and dirty hack just sue iray decals to project the image of the desired texture on the surface of your model It does not face about the geometry or anything.
But if you used blender to create this model I think blender has pretty decent UV mapping functionality and you probably need to ask this on the blender forum rather than daz.
Right, that was easier than I expected; I thought UV Mapper would have trouble with the strange geometry. Thanks - problem solved.
