I think you should install everything with Daz Install Manager. No manual install unless there's no other option, and no Daz Connect ever.

Firstly, I would set a restore point before doing the following - just in case.
Uninstall any products in DIM or DC except the Daz Studio software. Go to nininte.com and get Revo Uninstaller. Install it. Uninstall DS, DIM and/or DC with Revo and have it do it's deepest scan for files afterward. After DS is uninstalled unhide your folders and do a system search for DS files. Pay special attention to anything still left in App Data and/or Program Data folders and delete them. MAKE SURE EVERY FILE YOU ARE READY TO DELETE IS FOR DS. IF YOU DON'T KNOW OR AREN'T SURE, LEAVE IT. Make sure there are no entries for DS or DIM in the registry. Rehide your folders. Reboot.
Install DIM OR DC (one or the other - pick one and stick with it). Open DIM and set up all your paths. Just to make double sure your custom paths took, shut down DIM and reopen and see if your paths are still there. Then download and install DS and it's associated files. Before you download anything else, make sure DS is installed where you want it. If it checks out, install your first product. Before installing any more, make sure THAT ended up where you intended it to. Then proceed with the rest.
Other than this ridiculous dance, I don't know what else to tell you ;).

I'd do the Install Manager first. I think DAZ Studio can be installed from there. And also...
this. There may be a DAZ folder in there that is saving settings or something when everything else is deleted. I think it's in the Local one, not the Roaming one. Since I'm not using my windows computer, I can't look at how mine is set up but maybe this will help:
https://www.pcworld.com/article/2690709/whats-in-the-hidden-windows-appdata-folder-and-how-to-find-it-if-you-need-it.html
There is a Daz3d folder in ProgramData (which is a hidden folder). There is also a Daz3D folder in AppData/Roaming, including an Install Manager folder (also a hidden folder). There are files inside the AppData folder that have paths in them. If either of these two folders remain after an uninstall, then that might be where your "remembered" folders and paths are coming from daveso.

For me, it just took time for DAZ to fix whatever was wrong on their end. I had nothing showing up in my DIM for a few weeks back when everything went kaput. I would try to install what I could from DAZ Studio itself, but it would only a small fraction done every day and was just a waste of time and computer resources (why all the CPU cores have to shoot up to 100% for downloading some stuff, I dont know...). I finally gave up, and came back to it after a week, and the stuff showed up again.
There is also stuff in the registry that won't be uninstalled when you uninstall DAZ Studio. I did everything else to fix an issue where Studio refused to open beyond the splash screen (I had a little white box in the task tray but it would never display DS). After uninstalling for the fifth time after nothing else worked including deleting the AppData DS folders, I ended up going into the registry, saving the registry entry for Daz Studio (HKU\Software\DAZ\Studio4 key), then deleting the registry key and its sub-keys. I then reinstalled DS 4.14. That put everything back to the base configuration for me, including wiping out library paths, etc.
Here was my foray with trying to fix my issue with varying suggestions on how to fix the issue that might help: https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/451776/daz-studio-won-t-load-up-properly-after-splash-screen-white-preview-box-solved#latest

this was probably the worst time you could have done this
Whatever is going on with your set up sounds painful. Good luck with your re-install!

If you use DIM then don't login through DS! Let DIM handle your installs and updates. You don't want Daz Connect to update your metadata if you use DIM.

I just think you're shooting yourself in the foot by doing this now. I would wait for the connection issues with DIM to be resolved. Just my two cents.
@daveso "DIM does not find any of my store contact"
You still have to have the download and install paths correct in DIM. If you did not save and transfer the manifest, then DIM won't know what content has been installed.

I think the items not showing up in the install manager is a problem with DAZ that theoretically customer support people would fix. If that ever gets fixed, I think DAZ install manager is the best way to go to install things because it was the only way I got all my scripts to run. They wouldn't all work for me through DAZ Connect, and they seem to have to be installed from the same source as the items the scripts interact with. And it handles updates better in my opinion.
Also I would be more concerned about red mold than probably any other color.
@daveso Obviously, DIM is getting that info from somewhere! So, let's think about where and how Daz stores data.
Daz devs love .dsx files for storing info. That's an extension you can use to track down anything you've missed. Every item DIM downloads will have an associated .dsx file .
Your installed product manifest files are stored in C:->users->your-user-profile->Documents->Daz3D->ManifestFilesDIM
Daz devs keep info about your Daz3D programs in the directory C:->users->your-user-profile->Appdata->Roaming->Daz3D->Studio4 . If you're eliminating everything, that's an easy one to miss.
I hope you backed up everything before you began deleting it all!

I'm glad you've got your content backed up. I remember you had a big problem with Central! Yes, awful!
If DIM can't connect to the store and you have all your product zips, you can get rid of the .dsx files in your download directory. If you don't have the zip, you'd have to download it - obviously impractical for a large catalog. Then you put the zip(s) in your DIM download directory and start DIM offline. DIM will see the product(s) as downloaded but not installed, and you can install the product from DIM. Richard told me to do that with a product that was not showing up in DIM, and it worked like a charm.

I hope that helped you and you can get back to making art instead of fighting with your setup! :)
daveso, I'm sorry you're experiencing those troubles.. A long time ago I tried something similar to what you're trying. I learned the best way to uninstall and reinstall DAZ Studio is by using DIM.
I've switched computers a few times, even going from PC to Mac, and back to PC again. I've been able to copy everything from a PC to a Mac hard drive, and back again. I only needed to tell DIM and DAZ Studio where to find stuff. I've never bothered with Lost and Found, Smart Content, etc. Michael 4 and Victoria 4 have always worked. However, the Poser format files are splattered all over the place. It's been like that from the beginning.
It really sound like right now is a bad time to try fixiing things. It sounds like the DAZ Store and DIM are still having troubles. Why not take a break, and do something that makes you happy?! I wish you all the best.
if you had kept your zips this would be an easy fix
I assumed you hadn't
I installed everything fresh on my second computer when I first got it without having to go online because I had mine on an external
