So Happy to Have My Catalogue At My Fingertips

I finally saw a tutorial that made the problem of downloading my catalogue of DAZ products to an external drive so amazingly easy. Make a folder where you want, point the DIM to it, it creates the folders and "the path", and next go to the Content Database Manager, and add a new DAZ product box, and point the Manager to it, it creates "the path". Ditto for DAZ Poser products. Headslap! Now I can see the thumbnails in the Content Library! I keep getting distracted coming across 'old friends'. Some stuff got installed to Lost and Found. I make my own categories, so that's easy to fix. I know nothing about "editing metadata". So far, it works, show me all the shoes that will fit Genesis 8, etc. I put categories in for tropical plants, for Deco furniture props and whatever fits my current project. Love to see them pop up in the Content Library panel. And if I'm going to use a product often, just right click and send to Smart Content. I do not know why this was very difficult for me for years! Of course the DIM is great, I use it to locate files, too. Sometimes, the installations do not show up, so if not in Lost and Found, I use the DIM to show me the file location, faster than Window explorer. I love my DIM, my Content Library now. And, if necessary, I can find the folder and drag and drop to workspace.
My computer keeps giving me a message basically saying, "no more room". I did not understand that half my computer had a partition, so there it sits, 987GB empty. My inhouse techie warned me, do not use that drive. So now I can move my products to the external drive, and still retrieve through the Content panel. I am just so happy, because the purchases I made recently were becoming quite huge for my system, which was clogged up with many Props. Now I dont have to only install only 3 of those big characters with 3 big hairs. (Exaggerating, but that's the general idea). If anyone has been tearing their hair out trying to get an external drive to work right I will be happy to point to the tutorial that helped me.

My drive is quickly approaching capacity so I'll be looking to put my library on an external drive as well. Which tutorial worked so well for you?
On Youtube, https://www.youtube.com/user/versluis "WP Guru" also known as Jay Versluis. He has several excellent DAZ tutorials, he doesn't assume the user knows stuff that other tutorials don't mention. As for the external drive, I have Windows, so I just plugged and played, it (the Windows program) did the formatting, etc. . My inhouse techie bought it for me, as I don't know about the specifications. It's a Toshiba 1 terabyte, and there is not much noticeable lag downloading to the external drive, and not much uploading into DAZ workspace. I also got a 2nd one, as backup.
Hit the magic number to make my red computer warning go away, 21 GB free of 219GB. The way I went about selecting what to move to the external drive was by file size in 3 areas Hair, Figure, and Creatures, a couple of Environments. All a half GB to almost full GB.
I like the Sarah Payne hairs very much, but they are quite large files. I like Syble, but her file was 1GB! Same with Satine, and some of the other G8s. Robots like the MECK were very large files. I wanted to just make operational room for my machine, so I didn't plan to uninstall and reinstall much. I recommend putting on a movie, or some music, and just gently sift through the DIM for installed files over 99mb. That way, there is no congestion or thread snarl or whatever it is that gets DIM gets overloaded. Also, with add ons and their figures I would just do those, first the figure, then their add ons, to the external drive. '' I'll keep going, but already my machine is already a lot faster!
Thank you, the link was dead but was able to fine a tutorial under WPGURU
