What a darn shame. Your products were astonishingly good at the time, and I hoped for an updated version for quite some time. Seeing what you were working on, it's even more of a loss that you no longer bother with the market.

Thanks. I appreciate that. I'm happy that a-lot of people still use it to this day. Like me, it's gotten pretty old, but still works.

It looks fantastic and I'm sad that I missed the chance to buy it when it was available! If you ever decide to sell it elsewheRe now that it's not available here, or end up completing and offering your M8 project over there, I'll certainly grab it/them.

Cool donut.  How is the project progressing?

I abandoned it shortly after. When COVID hit, I lost my 13 year job as a graphic designer for an engineering firm. Seven months later I'm still unemployed. I've had a-lot of time on my hands so I'm playing with 3D again, but if anything comes from it, I would probably sell it on Réndérósíty.

Sorry to hear that. Good luck, in these trying times, and, for whatever it's worth, what remains of my wallet would be glad to welcome you back to the 3D business.

Not sure what the response would be if I sold these old products on Réndérósíty. Most people have already bought it. I guess I could sell it dirt cheap and set myself up as a vendor to see what the experience is like.

That's very true. I'm so used to thinking of that as the place to buy stuff, even new stuff, for older and independent figures, but Genesis marked a departure from simple cross-application functionality (I still remember ordering the DSON importer), and the majority of Genesis series content I see there now is for G8F and G3F. Not being a seller myself, I have no idea what goes into putting things on the market there.

If you do end up getting back into making 3D content for sale, I suppose you could always put an updated version in the marketplace and upload the older one as a freebie somewhere. I know that's what some former PAs have done with old catalog favorites, though I don't think anyone would have that as an expectation. Those of us who don't already own it and still want it would likely be willing to pay something reasonable.

Is there any reason Real Hairy can't be added back to the store.  Is it because the PA has gone AWOL?

    I didn't really go AWOL.

    oh my bad.

i would have bought it instantly on rendo or w/e.  Out of desperation i have learnt how to use SBH, so not sure i necessarily need it anymore.  I still see people using it tho.  I think if you made a G8 version it would fly off the rendo shelves.

I considered that. I could easily upload it to DeviantArt in some way (maybe in pieces because it's over 150MB), but wouldn't that piss you off if you were one of the people who already purchased it for $24.99 back in the day?

    Thoughts anyone?

I bought it way back, but I personally have no problem with an older product being made available for free by the vendor. It doesn't hurt my feelings. And if you become a vendor over at renderosity, or open your own shop, I'd be more than willing to support you over there.

I wouldn't be, personally. I've paid full price for a lot of content that other people have gotten for free, or for next to nothing. I may get mad when the company yanks items from active sales with no warning, but if a product is no longer available on the site and the vendor isn't a PA, what they do with it is fair game.

If anything I would prefer for vendors to make the product available elsewhere, whether at the same price, a reduced price, or for free. We lost so much amazing content when some sellers didn't make the migration from RDNA, DAZ still sells textures for products you can't buy anymore (RIP Millennium Cat and props), and Rendo has the dreaded "Unavailable." I would rather things continue to be available in some manner than see them disappear into the digital void.

I'll follow good content producers wherever they happen to go. I love a good freebie but I also buy the majority of my content and most of the time, if I buy from someone here I'm also doing so on other storefronts (including ones less in line with DAZ's image, lol).

Thanks. It's nice to see that most of you are still here and still supportive. I'll see if I can upload both packages to DeviantArt and see where it goes.

It will be fun to see some new renders.

I bought the package for Gen 1 a couple yers ago and used it quite a bit.  That's use I wouldn't have had if I waited for it to go free now.  But...now I just picked up the package for Gen 2.  And want to say thank you.

Thanks, I bought the Real Hairy for G2M based on the product page in my Product Library showing the guy sitting on the green couch but the product just says "Real Hairy" not "Real Hairy for Genesis 2" oddly enough. It always worked great. Nothing else I've bought has surpassed it although I've tried a few other more recent products. Best I could say is those others were close to equivalence.

Sorry to hear about the job thing...

Another avenue for you might be setting up a patreon page.  Just come up with some cool stuff, small, big, medium? Available to supporters.

Honestly, If I could get my hands on a hairy donut, I'd be in for a 5ver per month to help you get back on your feet!

Agree with Chumley. If the Rendo thing doesn't work out (and I've heard vendor type people complaining about Rendo and their policies a bit frequently these days), you might want to consider the patreon route. As long as you're not doing HD morphs, it doesn't have to be sold at Daz. And I've seen other artists doing clothes and props through Patreon as long as you have a good following and good products, I'm happy to buy off of patreon.

Yeah, my mind was pretty narrow back then when it came to the latest and greatest iteration of Genesis. I stopped using the old one completely. I only made REAL Hairy for Genesis because it was being so heavily requested at the time.

LOL. Not sure what kind of image you'd want to make with my hairy donut. Naughty naughty.

So sorry to hear about your job. I too was hit, though I don't work in the graphic arts field...but the related stress and sentiment is the same. I've been working on a temp assignment with my previous employer in the hopes that they place me into a new position permanently, but it's absolute hell working knowing there is an axe poised over your head.

I buy from Rendo all the time, so I would be totally interested if you were to set up shop there. As I said in the other thread, your hair body products are still some of the most realistic, if not most realistic out there...and thankfully they autofit (in general) pretty well to G8M.
