(does anybody ever buy if its not discounted, anyway :) ?)

Instead of color coding little signs plastered over the promo picts, I’d like sales that work and the integration of the non-daz, independently developed,  Firefox add-on for sales. That’s all we need. iI’s extremely time saving and customizably informative.

Both things, if implemented, would return my precious time (life) to me, instead of me being forced to endlessly scroll thru stuff I don’t need whenever there is a sale, or having to wait for somebody to correct prices and discounts (an unending nightmare) just to be able to find something I’m willing to put the buckeroos out on the table for.

Elbow grease should be put into those things instead. What we have so far is a waste of time, like little symbols telling me it’s a woman, g8, and fits into some category or other. There are better ways to use that space. Anybody who has been on the site for an hour can figure that out without those annoying signs. After an hour or a day, that stuff merely becomes a distracting eye sore.

Don't like it either. Too much white, harder to see the image of what is for sale. Icons, are small and I'm not sure if they're helpful, except for the G3, G8 etc indications.

Why not have an open review of proposed design changes so people can comment and suggest and Daz can get a better idea of what people want.

Just so we all remember what the old design looked like.  A moment of silence for the lack of clutter and boldness of everything important.

That might be what’s happening here ... a trial ballon.

Honestly it just doesn't seem that different to justify a huge response - either positive or negative

I like that theres no longer white text on black right above black text on white. as I always found that a bit painful and ugly

also let us count our blessings. They could've tried to add infinite scroll which is getting disturbingly common, despite my having yet to find a single site on the entire internet where it actually works well and isn't a massive pain.

I don’t think the idea of “feedback” is to “count our blessings” and just live with stuff. It’s to give feedback to improve things so that we don’t have to live with what can be improved upon.

    ...I did offer feedback?

I said it didn't seem like a big change and I liked the switch from having both white on black and black on white text

I then somewhat jokingly pointed out that it could be worse. But I don't think saying that somehow erases the specific feedback I also made

  • I still miss the "Hide items I am not interested in" functionality. E.g. I decided to stick with Genesis 8, sometimes allowing Genesis 3 .Genesis 2 and 1 are not relevant to me, and I would like to hide those. That would really be an added benefit to the store.

The discounts are not prominent enough. In the "old" design, the discounts where catching. In the new design, they are not.

@sevrin   Thanks for showing that. It makes it clear to me it was SO much better "as it was."   And to the person mentioning a forum overhaul-  DON'T TOUCH THAT DAZ!!!!!  Other than the repetitive signin being fixed, that is. I certainly don't want Daz to screw the forums up too!!!!! (Shudder.)

You can still select G8F/M from the dropdowns.  That hasn't changed.

Sooo much better before. WHY change something that worked? Why put in employee time on this when they should be fixing the problems with store pricing?

    ?

This has existed for quite some time. In the "Figure" filter, if you select select Genesis 8 and 3, the rest will be hidden.

Sure, but that sometimes hide environment-only items as well.

What is the point of covering the info in the product thumbnail with garish New and Sale banners? Sometimes I can't even read the title of the product.

Wouldn't those have had problems on the old layout if they were wishlisted? The Wishlist and New "unsafe zones" have switched places, but I would think their extent remains roughly the same (maybe that's why the new Wishlist heart is smaller).

The yellow wishlist heart was smaller than the new "New" banner. It obscured less. It was added only if I chose to add it by adding the item to my wishlist. It never appeared on new products just released that I had never seen before.

"New" used to be diagonal in the far right upper corner, kind of out of the way, and if it obscured something, it was the end of the text info, not the beginning like shown in the screenshot,  "Sale" has been added now, even lower on the left, and it obscures more of the product text description. Look at the screenshot. All four new products have part of their name hidden by those banners.

If Daz keeps this new banner positioning, maybe Daz and PAs will start to change the way they create promo images to work around the problem. Right now, those banners look clumsy and ruin the thumbnails that are supposed to attract me to the product.

I agree completely with your first two paragraphs, but would strongly urge Daz NOT to continue with this ugly mess.

Surely when you change a design, the purpose would be to make it easer to read, more appealing and eye-catching.  I am struggling to imagine the design team meeting in which Daz geve this the thumbs up!

  • If they have to add a million little meaningless icons, how about one that indicates 3DL materials?  Then if I can filter out everything that isn't, my screen will be nice and clean, much easier to look at! ;-)

  • HAHAHA! this new look is exactly like some kid who just finished HTML class and made their first site for $100. nothing about it is good. its hard to get the info at a glance that alone makes it trash. maybe if it didn't look like a table card game being played with all the pertenent info in the smallest text while the emphasis is on if its new or on sale both of which could just as easily be done with a simple outline and no text at all the %off and price will make it obvious to even new users. but its your store who am I to give much of a **** if you like that early nineties start up look for your store?

    after more looking

things what I am sad about losing

    • no button to add to wishlist

    things what I don't love

    • the new and sale signs are bigger and have some dead space. I think they could be shrunk down. text stays the same size, but the banner around it gets a bit smaller
    • pink and green banner colors. I'll admit I'm probably in the minority where I'd go as monochrome and minamalist as possible: no sale banner and make the new banner and favorite heart off white

Things what I think are an improvement

    • price being the first thing on the left. If you're the sort of person who isn't a big fane of the SALE! SALE! SALE! methodology, Having the actual price rather than the bright red percent off being the first thing and making the actual price rather than percent off the most clear element is a nice change
    • new and sale banners being on the left. This brings it in line with every other store on the internet that reads from right to left. genuinely. I did a quick check of  some other stores and every one of them that had tags for new or sales had them on the left, and every one that had an option to favorite had it on the right. While we might have gotten used to the opposite here, in the larger picture the old way literally the opposite of the norm
    • having all the text be black on white rather than the name being white on black and the prices black on white. I find having them all the same both easier on the eyes and much better looking. Again, find me another site that had black on white text next to white on black texts elsewhere on the internet.

I'm assuming they'll add an icon for poses. I have no strong feelings about the icons in any case

it looks a lot better now than it did yesterday, due to the changes they made.

clearly they are iterating on the design as they go.

    Yuppers.

The 'new' and 'sale' tags are too large and obtrusive, and need to be relocated to the right side, preferably near the bottom to not obscure the text on the image. If these stupid little icons are going to be used, the fly-out text needs to show up every time the icons show up, including all the carousels and the daily sale page. I may be in the minority here, but I don't shop with a phone, I don't wander the web with a phone - I do these tasks at home on a computer with usable screen real estate. If the promo image sparks my interest, I open the link in a new tab and look at the write-up and the rest of the images; if the promo images does not capture my interest I'm done.

People are honing in on the same stuff and not liking it. Remarkable consensus, except some who apparently like big banners to help them read and decipher what is going on.... Daz should be happy to have such perceptive helpers ... and all of that free labor without having to give out any certificates or store credit. Just think what a focus group or marketing agency would have cost!! But here all the talent is free ... graphic designers, artists, marketing folks .... Maybe some would like to offer their programming skills in order to whip those sales into shape before they go live everyday?

My 2 cents on the new store layout:

The green and magenta banners are distracting and overbering.  The assualt of color makes many of the product images pale in comparison.  There isn't really a need for a sale banner if the sales percentage is bold red.

The favorite heart is too small and gets lost in the image especially since it is a cutout.  Very hard to see.  Easy to miss.

There needs to be something that connects the words to the product image.  I know the name is below but there's nothing graphic on the page to indicate that.  The gray box around the icons makes the problem even worse.  Does the gray box go with the product above or below?  I liked it better this morning when the icons, name, and price were all together.

I miss the favorite button on each product on the top page.

Would love to see two lines for the product name instead of "..."  I'm always hovering over everything to see what it actually is.  It's even more difficult on the phone.

    Cheers

Yes, they detract from the promo and don't feel integral to it, the way the old sash in the upper right corner did.

    Yes

Yes. the background needs to connect the thumbnail and all the elements, not separate them.  I don't know if it's the gray background or if the icons have actually become smaller, but they seem much less readable than yesterday.

Yes, I hate having to mouse over every single product I might be interested in  to see the full name.
