I don't always use Smart Content so it's nice to scroll to the Environments folder and find what I need rather than all the extra clicks to get to the Poser Runtime within the DAZ Studio folder. Just my way. I've been passing on quite a few items in the store, even some I needed because of this oversight (my opinion) If it's sold at DAZ it should have native DAZ duf files but again, my opinion...

In that way you could say if it's sold at Daz it should have Bryce and Carrara files too. ;)
    Sorry, couldn't resist.

Anyway - as I like Poser and DazStudio I like things in the Poser runtime with daz materials consolidated with them - the new way of having DazStudio AND Poser files makes for a great bloating of my runtimes (DazStudio data are much bigger than Poser geometries - just look at the updated old Platinum club items).
    My personal opinion ...

Here is my render with Night Builder... also played with skin builder, brow builder, and eyelash builder in this... I forget whose scifi eyes I used.. also used skycar and a Jepes flame. I made the moon smaller and whiter. I played with some creature and vampire morps of V6 to get the old alien face.

Thanks for the great new renders everyone, great to see what you are doing with the set!

Actually it`s the other way round, seperate DUF & Poser Format is a lot less work than the "merged" format I usually go for.
And the Poser versions in general are a lot more work than the DS versions.
So...trust me, from where I stand I`d prefer to just do DUF and never even touch Poser.

Anyway, I think the two of you basicly wrapped it up ... Daz Studio users with up-to-date software will prefer DUF, Studio&Poser; users, or people with old Studio versions, will rather prefer the unified format.

Thanks FM.. I'm glad I mentioned it then. Hopefully your future products will cater to native DS users and I'll be buying. Be nice if you found the time to make updates to your older products..... might get some more sales as I'm sure I'm not the only one, I just got a big mouth is all! lmao

Tbh. I`ll certainly not change the format for future Easy Environments (IF there will be some), not going to break continuity there.
Other than that I might change at some point, the backwards compatibility slowly ceases to be an issue, with DS3 being quite old now.
We`ll see ... but it`s good to have the feedback.

    Sweet new renders indeed!
On Peter`s I can almost see a certain Ragnar smirking at the moon. Got a decent viking for a close up there? ;)

Yes, that might be an idea for a future render! :)

I, for one, certainly hope you never change the EE format. Your environments work so perfectly in Daz as they are. I keep telling you, you're making me look good :D

Just Picked up this thing. I say FM is a Drow. Only a fellow Drow would understand the night as well as this. I must ask though, just what did you do to get your butt kicked out of the Underdark my kinsman?

I don't know what all this babbling is about how wrong I am asking for native DUF files for DAZ Studio users. I think that was the point I was making. When you post a new product that has this convenience I'll buy it, if not I won't. Simple as that... THANKS

Shame on me, I had to look up what a Drow is, guess clicking your banner would have sufficed.
Certainly one of the more pleasant creatures of the night I`ve been compared with. :) (I get that a lot because I tend to live at night and sleep by day)

RAMWolff, easy, I don`t think anyone said you are wrong, if you are refering to me ... I certainly didn`t mean to.
I`d wish I could make everyone happy with a file format, but having two platforms to care about just makes it a difficult task.
It`s a pitty Smart Content had such a bumpy start, otherwise users might not even have to care about formats anymore. :/

That's okay Flipmode. Not everyone embraces there inner Drow. I do in a big way, I was just sure you were a fellow night walker. I seem to have at least got that part right.

People buy stuff elsewhere / download free stuff ... and all of those are without "smart" content anyway.

True, I have to admit I didn`t think of that, I live in a pretty Daz-ish world. ;)
So let me rephrase... I`d wish for a fantasy world where Smart Content could perfectly arrange all formats for us, so noone would ever have to care about it.

I was curious how the set would look animated, so I did a very short clip.
Nothing special, but if you want you can take a look here >

Any chance of doing another set like this for Iray?

  • FlipmodeFlipmode Posts: 938

Sorry for the late reply dkgoose.
Well, tbh. I don`t have any near-future plans to make something similar for Iray.
With this set, I imagine changing the materials of active layers to "iray emissive" and turning up luminosity should work quite well.
I might get back to the night theme sometimes later, but for now I am more focussed on new easy environments and probably making an Iray set from the older skies.

New EE set ... hmmmm? Any hints?

  • FlipmodeFlipmode Posts: 938

    Hey Willow ;)
Well, I suppose you noticed today`s new set http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/63917/easy-environments-hell-daz-studio-poser-commercial

For the next one I plan somewhat the opposite. Well no, not heaven ;) But something bright, friendly, high up.
That said, I didn`t get started yet, bad times here ... didn`t really get to work.

  • DkgooseDkgoose Posts: 1,451

thanks for the reply, i'll have to try that :)

I never saw this thread when it came out, but I was just thinking this morning of an upcoming scene in my storyline where I was going to need to do some nightime silhouette shots, and how I was going to pull it off.... this will be perfect!!  Must go find in store....
