You do not need or use Photoshop (or GIMP, or Elements, or PaintShop, or etc.) for this product.
Within DS 4.5 you will load either Genesis 1 ( this would need Victoria 5) or Genesis 2 Female (which comes with Victoria 5 UV Mapping). Then using the included DS Scripts you create the skin by moving sliders for the 'amount' of the four included skin textures are blended, and then selecting colors for parameters such as Specularity, Velvet, Subsuface and Tint. The scripts will get the appropriate textures files and layer them, using DAZ Studio's Layered Imaging (LIE) to blend the texture files. These scripts will work with any version of DS that will work with Genesis.
The Public Beta has the fix for the tdlmake problem.
i already know this
I don't use public beta
i wanted to know if people have the same issues with the new product
if the problem is really solved in beta why no hotfix ?
i cant use my skinoverlay from zevo because of this issue

I'm still on DS 4.6.1.39 and do not have any problems with tdlmake.
As for a 'hotfix' ... The public beta would be the 'hotfix'.

nice you have no problems
a beta is no hotfix
and thx for trying to help
Turn off texture auto refreshing. That fixes the problem until the next build is ready.
ah so easy
thx zevo
Ok, I installed Skin Builder Pro. Since DIM doesn't work for me I use WinRAR and I put that "Content" Folder In Studio3 (that's what my content runtime begins with).
Now...I looked EVERYWHERE and I can't find it. Where is it?
*Whispers to Daz* This is "exactly" why downloaded files need to start with either "Runtime" or "My Library"!!! So I know exactly where to find it instead of doing a treasure hunt for it! >:(
The easiest to find it out is to open the downloaded .zip file and look what is inside (in Windows 7 or later, just right click on the .zip file
and choose "Open in new window" to see the contents).
After I installed the Skin Builder Pro there are folders "Skin Builder" under Materials of Genesis and Genesis2 Female,
and also under Light Presets.
I am using DAZ Studio Pro 4.6.2.117 64-bit version with Skin Builder Pro and so far it works ok.
Below is the render of Fiends Forever with skin created in it.
i am having a problem. I can find the program OK; V5 is installed OK. I load a Genesis 2 female in, make sure she's selected, start the correct Skin Changer for Genesis 2, select a simple skin on medium, and away it goes....and goes.... and goes. The little working pointer icon stops, but if I select the surfaces tab to prepare to do a spot remder, or click anywhere for that matter, the working pointer icon comes up and the whole screen goes opaque. "The dreaded "Daz Studio is not responding" message appears in the menu bar. I have to close the program to get control back
I have 4.6.2.120. I shut off auto refresh in the surfaces.
Where do I go now?
Nevermind - I have it working
how do i save a finished texture as a material? next time i load it always looks like this when i open my saved figure. What am I doing wrong?
To save as a mat preset, select the figure File>save as>material preset.
But the figure should be loading back in with the mat correctly applied - it looks as if the limb mat is placed on the face and head.
Can you show some screen shots of your surface settings.
Also which version of DS are you on.
There was an occasional problem a fair way back where the wrong textures would be applied, though as I recall that was mainly loading DS4.0 scenes in DS4.5 rather than a within-version issue.
I'm using Daz 4.6
I'm using Giselle base, I'm sure it has something to do with the uv set......but I'm still learning my way around this stuff
In the Surfaces tab is the UVset showing as Giselle or V5?
it is showing as Giselle in surface tab uv set when i save as material, is Giselle even compatible? I would assume she is a gen 2 female...but again I'm slightly new at this. I would think I could try saving under V5 and when using giselle change the uv set to V5.....would that work?
Yes, change the UV set to V5 and that should fix it.
that didn't work.....i notice at the bottom is says failed to load....
Can you find that file and apply it manually
:| Not sure if this thread is active still, but oh how I hope it is. Just downloaded and installed via the install manager, found it in daz (4.7) annnnnnnd load up the skin script and BAM. Daz crashes. This happen to anyone else or someone know what's wrong/how to fix it?
Yes, change the UV set to V5 and that should fix it.
The UV set has to be designed on V5, You cannot just change another UV to V5 by selecting it in the UV list. It has to be converted. Also this product is designed to work with V5 UV sets only. Reason for this as I mentioned before is so that it can also work on Genesis1 for broader usage. So, unless your skin says V5 in the surface tab by default, it is not compatible.
Can you clear your log file, run the script and if DS crashes again, can you post the log file? That should give an indication as to what is going wrong. The script should not be crashing studio if it is just been opened.
...actually I had it work well with Giselle.
What features of the script worked well with Giselle? Yes some scripts in the product are universal (eg eye builder, nail builder etc, but some are V5 UV specific. Sometimes applying on a different UV might look alright, but from a technical standpoint, it is not alligned or placed in the correct place. I can in now way promote the products saying it works on other UV sets if it does not work the way it is supposed to like on V5 UV, but if you get results on an alternative UV set that works for you, then great:)
...did a full body and head build. Worked great
That works fine because you are applying a new V5 UV\skin from the script to Giselle, eg no different using V6 or Gia skin on a character. The issue the user was having was applying the script to Giselles UV. I think there is a bit of confusion here between the character shape and the character UV lol.
Also, the fact that a character is for Giselle 6 doesn't mean the maps use the Giselle UVs - a lot of vendors use the default UV set, in order to maximise compatibility.
Skin Builder Pro for Genesis 3 in the works I hope !
Thanks for everything you do Zev0 and DraagonStorm.
