I finally realised that if I installed the Poser version via DIM I would get them, now I have to install the Poser version of the Palms too...but I am getting there. KoM is something I have wanted to render for so long. Now I have a PC that can handle it. :)

Ah nice, look forward to seeing the results :)

It is going to take a while as it is a night scene with a lot of lights.

Well as they say, go big or go home :)Nope never heard that...I will get my coat. ;)

the westpark wp-room with brick and wood textures by muze "rumble in the bronx" :) injected and fixed (tilling and displacement) by me :) also have made new texture zones for the sills and baseboards via polygon groupe editor to get the wood texture to these polygones :)

time for creating 15 minutes or so :)

...that's really cool. that set must have some really nicely tiled shaders to do that.

Wonder if I can use the brick textures from Eva's Urban Environment Shaders along with the Griminzer to make them look old?

a question if you can do that? Why not?

as most of the time I use textures from one vendor on products of other vendors to get new rooms and stuff :) and I have to say that the brick and wood textures by muze "rumble in the bronx" are really great and incredible real looking.

...they are, just cannot afford the set at this time.

There is also another resource I hope to get when I finally have a steady income again: Dimension Theory's Shades of Life Urban Construct..

thank you, but only thing I have done is to add the textures created by muze and fixed the values :) okay, the creating of new texture zones via polygon groupe editor, but that isn`t much work :)

...I use the Polygon Group Editor a lot for the same reasons. I've even 'altered" models with it by setting up new Mat zones and simply turning off the opacity.

A good example in point, the brass shades for the chandeliers over the booths in the scene below. These were actually made from the roof of the Moonshine's Diner., with opacity on parts turned off, new Mat zones established, then textured, and resized (using instancing to save time).

    yeah nothing special

    I7 3770 3.4 GHZ Quad
    8 GB Ram
    Win 7 64 Bit
Geforce GT 610 and not some knock off but the real deal

Nice and quite too even when rendering.

I have a spare Ram slot which I will be filling very soon making 16 GB. (without messing up the warranty as I discussed this with the manufacturer Zoo Strom)
I will also be replacing the power supply when I get a new GC or 2 ready for Octane.

This will keep me going until I can get a Xeon based system. So I am back saving again.

Well that's nothing to be sad about.. it's a solid rig..! :)

LOL I am not sad but ecstatic that I can do things I couldn't before. :) I had a faulty HDD when I got it. Had more BSOD in one month than my whole 16 years of having computers. Rang them up and a week later had a new HDD. Since then it has purred like a kitten.

That's annoying, but at least it happened when it was new (and before you spent all that time setting up your apps and stuff)

If it makes you feel any better, my machine had a dodgy GPU when it was first new too.. :)

Yeah no data loss because as you said I hadn't installed much.

well a faulty GPU no that doesn't make me feel better but I hear you and what a pain that must have been.

Nah no biggie, thankfully the company just fired a new one straight out.

*touch wood* it's been good ever since!

Nothing special? All I have is a humble i5 with motherboard graphics. I'm jealous of you, Pete!

    Cheers,

    Alex.

hey at least it is better than a Dual Core Vista 32bit with 2GM of Ram Alex so don't be jealous just get saving. LOL

Jack I am so happy I dealt with a company that you can speak to the tech dept without waiting eons on the phone and that they came out quickly to fix it. That in itself made me very happy indeed.

Yea, it often pays to spend the extra on the PC to get decent support.. glad to hear it, and it bodes well for the future of the PC :)

Sounds like a decent setup to me. I was just over there looking at what they have to offer, but then I saw on their Contact page their located in the UK, which didn't really surprise me, so I think I'll have to stick with NewEgg for now. :coolsmirk:
