July 2020 in Cinema 4D Discussion

The most versatile 3D Library just got a whole lot bigger.

Daz 3D is here to help you make amazing 3D artwork. That’s why Daz is excited to announce the Daz to Cinema 4D Bridge and native Cinema 4D File Formats! To continue to make morphable, mashable, and photo-realistic 3D models even more available for digital artists, we’ve developed two new ways to take your 3D content with you, wherever you work.

Daz Bridges

The new Daz to Cinema 4D Bridge is ready to transfer your Daz Library into Cinema 4D. This cross-platform port fully converts the rigging, textures, and character functionality that you expect from Daz to get your 3D arsenal ready for an exciting new adventure.

How it works

Daz handled the complicated stuff like rigging, polygons, and textures. Daz Bridges do all the hard work so all you need to do is:

  • Download

    • Download Studio for free, and get automatic access to Daz Bridge to Cinema 4D (also free!).

  • Build

    • Explore over 30,000 items to find your perfect product. Then use Studio’s built-in sliders, morphs, smart content and auto-fit to make your perfect character & scene.

  • Transfer

    • Once your character or scene is ready to go, open your Daz Bridge and import your project to your 3D software simply, quickly and easily.

  • Finalize

    • Put in the finishing touches - pose, animate, render!

File Formats

Daz is also announcing File Formats, a new effort to share sensational 3D characters, props, poses and environments with the entire 3D art community! File Formats unlock a brand new world of Cinema 4D content for you to explore.

3D Artists prefer Daz because we offer content like you’ve never seen, with built-in functionality that takes your 3D art to the next level.  What can you build with the most versatile 3D Library?

What could be the problem ? It handles both simple and basic models without any problems. But if the model has morphs, then the window in Cinema 4d just hangs. Writes to wait. But I waited a long time, no effect. And the processes show that the programs are inactive.

Does this work with C4D Lite (which comes with After Effects)? Or do you need a paid version of C4D to use this?

полная версия 21. Кроме того, простые модели переносятся быстро и хорошо. Но если это моя модель с морфами, то окно просто висит

So, we now have automated IK creation on import. The next step to improve the bridge is to always have it export the base JCM morphs with the fbx export. And then link those corrective morphs to the corresponding axis rotations with a python script inside C4D. The script should be fairly simple to create so either the original author or the DAZ devs should be able to create this.

I almost forgot. You also need to write a python script which puts the base figure into the base pose before it does all the DazToC4D stuff, and then corrrects the broken joint alignments. So THEN you can link those JCMs properly with them behaving in the correct manner. This script should also be fairly easy. We just need the correct values as to which rotational alignments each joint should have to be identical to the base figure in DS.

After all this has been done the DazToC4D can run with proper aligned joints, working corrective morphs and no frustration on the part of the user. YAY!

Richard, if you read this, could you PLEASE link this to one of the developers? I doubt they will react to it if I put this into a ticket, I have never had any success with tickets before apart from standard responses as if they were automated... I am absolutely passionate about getting this stuff done correctly so that we can finally have a working solution for daz figures inside C4D and I am more than willing to get in touch with your guys and help wherever I am able to, and I will also help you out with scripts myself when I come up with a working one, but lets please turn this thing into a success. I am sure it will be if we can properly setup the stuff that the original plugin author left out of it and it should not even be a hard thing to solve. I have done these things manually in the past for all those 100+ joint correctives and the alignments aswell, so I know that if this does not get automated, then the bridge will eventually be worthless to people, because noone wants to do these mundane things everytime they want to setup a new character.

Hi, sorry to bother, buy the script in my Cinema4D R17 doesn't appear…

It would be very, very useful to have it.

Any idea of what to do ?

I'm on Mac, last version of Daz

    Thanks in advance

    Ok, I found out.
Daz created a folder in C4D named Untitled witch contain a folder named Plugin witch contains the script.
Just put the script into the real C4D plugin folder, and it worked. DaztoC4D appears in the plugin menu.

    Same at me.

"Please Wait ... Importing" for hours, without any progress (feedback) and result.

No Hair imports are about 3-6 GB per imported character.

See also my "Feedback to DaztoC4d Bridge" post.  Simply does not work, Unfortunately.

Is it a mac problem? Currently using Mac with R20 and R21, OSX High Sierra.

Hope there will be a solution soon.

    Hello,

Thank for the Bridge to C4D pluggin it's great. However, in my case the resolution is a lot lower than when I import my models via .obj.

Is there anything I can do to fix that?

    Thank you.

I just started looking through all the C4D-compatible products I own from the store, and some of them, like the Orangery and Militia Outpost, don't actually have C4D files to download.

Also, the ones that do have downloadable files all seem to be set up entirely for Redshift, which I'm not thrilled about. It would have made far more sense to me to make them default C4D materials, lights, cameras etc. and let the user convert to whatever render engine they use.

The C4D internal renderer is outdated. Redshift3D is already an industry standard by now, similar to V-Ray. Of course people will setup things for this renderer if they can. Especially now that Maxon has bought Redshift and will most likely soon make it their default renderer.

That may be, but not everyone who uses C4D uses, or even has access to, Redshift. Since I'm one such user, the imported materials are completely useless to me. If it imported standard materials, the user could convert them to whatever renderer they want to use. It would be like if Daz models exclusively came with Octane materials.

agree with Gordig. user should decide what to use. i prefer arnold, corona and maxwell for myself. and also got soem good renders using the c4d default renderer. all in all,  its a mattter of what you like to use

The toughest problem with Daz -> c4d is not materials. Its the morphs. Materials are not hard to map. Geos are not hard to place either. Morphs are whats really hard to do.

I think you guys should concentrate on that at some point. Otherwise your nicely rendered meshes will always look funny.

I'm trying out the bridge to C4D but am having a strange issue.

The clothing comes across fine, and the bone structure is there, but not the actual model of the character.

Am I doing something wrong? This is with C4D S22.

It's great that you're working on this plugin, it makes Daz a big possiblity for our studio to use along with C4D and Octane/Redshift. But as Maltsevan reported 8 months ago, I'm having the same issue of the importer opening the model in C4D, then being stuck at Please Wait... Importing. Can I just close this? I saw an older importer prompts you to save materials out of the temp folder, so I'm concerned about this not relocating the materials until it's truly finished.
