Question to DAZ regarding DAZtoC4D

hzrhzr Posts: 208
May 2020 in Cinema 4D Discussion

Hey guys,

3DTOALL are about to release DAZtoC4D but it seems to be stalling and the last update they gave was they were talking to you guys, but that was more than a month ago. So if that is being held up for some reason, could you give us a timeline for when you will put this on the store? They did a good job with the Maya version, so it would be amazing to see this being brought to C4D aswell because there are quite a few people who do work with daz figures in c4d and thus far the pipeline between the two was a bit tedious at times.

thanks in advance!

The forums are mostly user to user, If you want an official answer from Daz you'll need to open a support ticket to ask them directly. But Daz almost never gives timelines for releases, so I wouldn't hold my breath...

The bridge is out now, although I don't think it's working correctly yet. The DIM install repeatedly fails, and I can't find the package in my download folder. The Blender bridge is apparently working just fine, so hopefully this one won't be far behind.

For me it worked with one hiccup. I installed it through DIM, set my version and path and the plugin files were in the correct place, apart from the RunOnce script for the beta version. It seems the team only was looking out for release version users but you can copy the script from the studio RunOnce folder to the beta one and it will run fine.

I worked on a bridge concept about 2 years ago via FBX. I ran into several issues, which could be solved, but with some huge effort. So I abandoned that topic.

Now I'm interested, if this plugin will deal with the issues that I found. I will wait though until August until I will give it a test drive, Hopefully it works with Cinema 4D R18.

    Yay !!!
    But...
... but my c4d is way to old. v10.5 is not supported anymore.

I've got R18, and it worked for me. It's not very obvious how it works, though: you have to run the importer within C4D, then run the script within DS.

You should find it in the DAZ Install Manager (DIM) or if you have that new DAZ Central thing. DIM usually gets automatically installed when you install DAZ Studio and should be in C:\Program Files\DAZ 3D\DAZ3DIM1

I only ever manually download my content from the store page, and there appears to be no way to do so

You can get the plugin now on GitHub. Thus you can manually download and install it.
