A better bundle structure?

Thread for sharing ideas about a better bundle structure.

Base/Starter/Pro is the current structure. It's probably meant to encourage customers to buy Pro bundles right away if they have any interest in the Pro bundle contents, since buying a larger bundle later means that you're paying for some of the content a second time. In practice, it can have the opposite effect - if a good deal isn't offered on the Pro bundle, I'll skip that character altogether until a later date when the Pro bundle is offered at a steep discount.

So what would be better? Here's my thought:

- Base Character - Just the base character. We'll call him George 8.

- George 8 Character Bundle - Characters based on George 8, hairs designed for the release, and the George 8 HD add-on.

- George 8 Theme Bundle(s) - Poses and outfits designed for the release and the texture packs for those outfits - there could be multiple theme bundles (George 8 Sci-Fi Theme Bundle, George 8 Fantasy Theme Bundle, George 8 Horror Theme Bundle, George 8 Everyday Theme Bundle, etc - as many as Daz wants to commission).

With this structure, buying any of the bundles wouldn't disincentivize buying the others.

And if someone likes the character but not the theme (say for example... wrestling), they could buy the base character and the Character bundle but skip that Theme bundle. This would allow Daz to experiment with different themes without jeopardizing the bulk of sales for a character.

That's what would appeal to me - I'd be interested in reading your ideas about a bundle structure that you'd prefer. Or if you like the current structure, feel free to say why it appeals to you - maybe you'll change my mind.

Note: The CJ and Dain Fantasy Bundles are similar to what I'm thinking, except that those bundles seem to have been offered in addition to the Starter and Pro bundles instead of replacing them (which defeats the point).

I think an a la carte system would be great. Let us design the bundle that best works for us based on the released items. Maybe we could get the character as the base and then either get a set number of credits that we use to buy the other items (organized by price) or allow us to pick 'X' items from different categories like they currently do for sales, e.g., poses, characters, clothing, etc.

The idea of themed bundles has been mentioned before with the point being made that it would mean fewer bundle releases due to a greater workload for the PAs to create content for each theme... HOWEVER, when you consider Daz have recently been releasing Pro bundles almost weekly, personally I'd be happy for them to space them out more to allow for the more flexible format you've suggested above smiley

I can imagine the bundle sales structures being "Buy George 8 Character Bundle and 1 George Theme Pack for 10% off your order; Buy George 8 Character Bundle and 2 Theme Packs for 20% off" etc. etc.

Sounds plausible to me! I'm sure there will be some very interesting alternate (and opposing) opinions on this topic.

For me personally what interest me more are the promotion of the sale. Sure, the genre is very important and a bundle with more items that you like will be require less benefits in general in the sale to make me purchase it. But even if i like a good portion of the items, if the promo is not good i will just add to wishlist and wait for a better sale/offer.

For example i bought on release week valentino and sahira not because i love pirates, but because the sale promotion allowed me to get a lot of other stuff for free and g8 pro bundles for really cheap values. I like sci-fi more but the promo does not give me good benefits.

Also, being in a genre you wanted does not mean every item is of your liking. Of the 3 outfits today i only like 1, the exosuit. The military well, is less sci-fi but i guess is decent. The crusher is ....i don't know..... it looks kind of catoonish/retro/vintage, not what i need.

Something like this would be ideal.

im usually only ever interested in the character + their HD morph.

I usually have zero interest in all the peripheral stuff.  So typically i just buy the character solo and their HD.

It would be good if there was a bundle made for this purpose but they probably make more money from me this way.

Sometimes it feels like some things like hair or poses are included in the Pro bundles just to pad them as they are not always the same level of quality as the other items in the pro bundle.

Yes, themed bundles has been discussed. I don't need more characters I need more concepts. Frankenstein lab, steampunk, 50's kitchen, factory, farm, etc. The current aliens vs troopers, there is nothing new in that bundle, I've already purchased plenty of equivalents.
