it's pretty clear that the company does little in the way of any kind of Intellectual Property vetting when accepting products.

Not true and unverifiable by any standard. When you consider the vast amount of properties/genres across all media, there is no way to catch everything.

What, YOU (me, anyone) know EVERY video game, movie, book, comic, anime, cartoon, icon, sprite and logo in existence?

So 5 get through and you write off the 500 that didn't.

There's stuff that's sold on other sites that didn't make it here.

If you've been through the vendor process, there's a lot of scrutiny.

I also accept that QA is like a soccer goalie.

The score of the game is decided by the shots you didn't stop.

What you do do, as a company is rely on external factors.

You have VENDORS sign a CONTRACT and agree NOT to infringe.

You have your customers alert you to anything funky.

You react when the property holders alert you to an issue.

  • Apparently the Defenders of Freedom bundle has also been yanked from the store.

Is it still listed in your product library?

Yes, and downloaded. But that's not surprising. They don't tend to pull items from product library even if they've been pulled from the store.  If an item has been that thoroughly removed, I've not heard of it.

They're probably obligated to give you a refund if they do that, and I've never seen that happen with any of my 17000+ products.  They usually do offer a return&refund (no matter when you purchased it) if you report a product as defective or whatever and they chose to remove it from the store because they can't/won't fix the problem.

Removing a product from a person's library would also mean that some of that persons existing scenes might break, so not a good idea if people rely on having their files available in the cloud only.  But I'm not sure if they can be held legally responsible for any losses in that context; I don't think they're obligated to offer you further access to your downloadble files, once you have successfully downloaded them (unless they guarantee access to your files as long as they're in business).

Or the REDACTED company decided that it was too REDACTED to their REDACTED and they REDACTED so daz had to REDACTED and that's why it's gone now.

There has been rather a lot of posting based on an assumption about the removal of the products, so the thread is being locked.
