Button down shirts on women with anything larger than an A Cup (FAIL)

I can't tell you how much time I spend trying to get shirts to work, and ultimately giving up, in this situation. I have a hand ful that I have saved off after customizing them in Blender....because this is such a pain...

It's gotten to the point that I fit almost every top in Marvelous Designer, and make a custom morph ...otherwise it's junk...

There has to be a better way of conforming a shirt to the character without wedging the center of it, as close to the body as possible. shirts don't do this...and don't get me started on what happens to the buttons and ties...Yeeesh.

My solution for ties...dont fit them to the character EVER.  keep them independant...fit them last, after all is said and done...

I have purchased many outfits shown with chesty characters, only to have the shirt wind up to be be useless on a similar character, without an hour spent in fit control and then fighting with the mesh grabber tool...then trying over in zbrush....

Even dforce shirts....it's hit or miss...I've had dforce shirts that seem to simulate in every area except the main chest area.... where all the problems are.......Ugh....

Ah well... that's my rant of the day...happy rendering...

Don't create while driving....it's dangerous...

  • Have you tried any of Sickleyield's clothing-fit products?  I believe Zev0 also has some products that might help.

Problems related to the "shrink wrap" distortion of women's clothing fits are a long-term source of irritation, and you also mention the directly related problem of buttons and other fasteners, or any items hanging from the collar or neck over the chest (ties, scarves, long necklaces, etc.).  Until shirts and jackets are fitted differently from bras and bikini tops, this will continue to be a problem.  I have no idea if addressing this is a priority for Daz or not.

Yeah...I've tried them all....the best luck I've had is with the flirty school shirt, though you have to hide the buttons and create your own... outside of that... you have to construct your character to be flat as a board, or it's fight fight fight...

This is why you see so many bikini tops on female DAZ characters.

    Think of it like this:

There's an amazing automatic system for taking clothing models and figuring out how to deform them around humans with different chests and other variations.

But it's... an algorithm. It can only take things so far. After that, you need tools used with intelligence.

The Dawn SE character has a bodysuit morph that bridges butt crack, breast cleavage, and smooths underboob. It works. Why aren't there Genesis 8 spandex top and spandex bottom morphs?

Can you show some examples of what you think is a bad fit and what you think is a good fit?

I am sure there are tools out there that help but I need some visual examples before I recommend anything.

  • I can tell you, in real life, it's the same problem.

This! Why should 3D characters fare any better than real people in that aspect?wink

But yeah, button shirts are difficult, and you need a different tailoring compared to smaller size busts if you want a tighter fitting look.

what about going to the dforce surface pane and setting dynamic strength to 0. just for the buttons. I do that all the time with parts of hair that fall off. When dynamic strength is set to 0, it basically seems to be the same as "freezing" that item/surface.

Buttons are best dealt with via Rigid Follow Nodes, if possible - even for non-dynamic clothing that stops them from deforming due to morph projection and posing.

I have been a little disappointed with how many dForce items don't in fact make the upper body dynamic, it would be nice to have blouses that bloused, but even if they were the morph projection would still distort the tops by expanding the area over the breasts and leaving the area over the sternum (relatively) unchanged - as suggested above, some of Sickle Yield's sets should help at least a bit.
