Joy for G8F [WIP] [Commercial]

I've been working on these for awhile now, so it's time to start the first thread of what will probably be a fair-sized pile of them. I still have some tweaking to do... If there's a want for it, I can assemble an accessory for her. I'll be taking request for some sort of jewelry or other similar thing. Lemme know what you want.

Also, let me know  if you want a G3 version-- I should be able to get it together.

In the meantime, I would like to ask your opinion: I have two sets of textures for her, and I'm wondering which you guys would like to see.

Here's the pix-

I like this one for a lot of reasons, but ultimately it's not as complex as the other (and thus a bit easier on resources).

As opposed to this one, which looks a lot livelier, but each surface has several layers, and as such is going to use more resources. The other catch is that the anatomy textures were cannibalized from the torso UV.

Let me know what you think!

The first skin looks a bit more realistic to me (just IMO). Nice character, she has a cute face! :) Will this be something you plan on selling or a freebie character or?

I'd say the first one, the second looks a bit orangey pink (also her belly button looks a bit different).

Of course lots of skintone is down to lighting. So maybe a few different lighting setups might change things a little?

I like the skin in the first one much more than the second, great tone and I like the sheen on the skin. I personally don't care for the morph as the face looks pretty ordinary and the body is to big for my tastes and lacking in detail.

This is a commercial piece, although there may be a pack of shapes eventually. There are also a long list of menfolk as well, for those that are interested in those. :) With a little luck, DAZ will take her.

As for lack of details, @FSMCDesigns, I don't have the cpability to handle HD morphs, so I'm kinda stuck. Maybe after I can put my hands on whatever procedure/plugin needed for those, I can start getting a bit fancier.

There are many merchant resource morph packs sold in the store. You can definitely make her a lot more interesting with those!  Also, study what top PAs do with their skins and get ideas from those to improve skin,

I have a number of said resource packs, some of which got used to rough out the shape before I attacked them in Maya LT. I took a minute to have a look at his dA gallery, and I can see what he's looking for. There are already a few on the stack that have similar looks. Joy's just first. :)

In the meantime, you can bake normal maps from a higher res figure in your modeller. Then if Daz like what they see and sign you up to be a PA, you can access the HD tools. You could explain in your e-mail that you want to improve it with HD morphs before release if they like it.

Time to bone up a little, then ;) Photoshop CS6 and I have been having a go-round trying to locate the 3-D properties in the million and five menus it has (which may be hidden because CS6 is older than dirt and hates modern videos cards or something). Making normal maps is a right pain when the software won't cooperate. Bump maps too, now that I thing on it. Oh, well. At least I can fake those.

Love your chess set, btw. Looks gorgeous. If I ever need a set of chessmen for the characters to play with, I'll be sure to look you up :)

And I know what you mean about normal maps - I've only recently learned the trick of doing this in Blender (and I think I'd still struggle with a shape as complex as a human - a football, no problem, lol)

I hear ya. Funnily enough, the second one actually HAS a set of normal maps that came with it, but I wound up not using them-- they had eyebrows on, and taking them off in favor of the fibermesh units I have on the model now turned out to be more important (Photoshop and I did a decent job of getting it off the rest of the maps, though.)

Spent most of the day trying to track down MRs for things like scarring, only to discover that the one that suited my needs the best is no longer for sale over at Rendo. Need to see if I can find another way to do it with hands that nearly as steady as they once were. I've sent a message to the guilty party-- maybe they'll be knid and sell me a copy.

As for the texture kit to use, I may include them both on the off-chance that soemone likes the added cheeto dust and strawberry sauce ;) Barring that, I'll have to adapt the second one to a teen or something, because I'm not 100% sure anyone would be bothered getting a kit that didn't have certain textures available without a UV swap.

BTW, thanks for your part in the Old Shopping Arcade. It'll come in handy for promos ;)

Okay, here's another closer look at Joy in Texture A, including a look at the palm and sole. Looking at what I can do about some blemishes somewhere...
