Can i expect items only explicitly mentioning iray shaders to have 3delight rendering capability?
in The Commons
I confess to not be a fan of the iray rendering system. So I do render using 3delight most of the time. While some new items come with iray shaders AND 3delight shaders explicitly mentioned in their description, some do only mention iray shaders (e.g. the new Klareyn figure).
I would like to know whether such products can be rendered with 3delight with good results since it does not say iray ONLY (like some products do)?
Would be great if there would be an option in the shop to (only) list items which can be rendered using 3delight to avoid such questions or even bad buys.
Thank you in advance!

When I say "shaders", it's about

No and yes.
It will not work good, specially eyes will be with red tint.
Yes if you change the skin materials and replace it with another skin material of a figure which supports 3delight. Other option is Iray to 3delight converter. By the way genesis 8 male default 3delight material is faulty but other 3delight materials from other figure which contain RSL or 3delight material will work.
If it only mentions Iray Material Presets then it means that it's only been designed and tested to work with Iray. So converting it to 3Delight would need to be done by the end-user. There is, however, an Iray to 3Delight converter available at the store.
IME, if the item does not say "Daz Studio 3Delight Material Presets (.DUF)" in the description, those are not included. There is a converter script available here.

The render results without conversion may vary. Iray glow and lighting effects won't translate. 3Delight in Daz doesn't support that. 3Delight in Daz is a bit lacking compared to the full range of 3Delight capabilities. But you might also look into Wowie's AWEshading kit. That extends a lot of 3Delight render capabilities, but at the cost of longer render time.

Thank you all for the helpful comments and instructions. Maybe I'll give the converter a try...
That said, for props and sets, it's fairly hit or miss. Some do all right in the other engine, some are major nope. There are converters for them as well.
I've reached a point that if there are Poser materials I'll use them. So far, Poser vendors almost universally still support Firefly, and I know how to deal with firefly materials.
Honestly, using a converter script, then tweaking things takes the same time as selecting a shader, applying it and tweaking things.
I've stopped worrying about shader presets. If I'm thinking of buying something, the first thing I check: Are these custom IRay shaders, if not, I check the textures and controlmaps included. If you get diffuse- specular- bump-, possibly displ- and normal maps, you're good to go, no matter render engine. Presets are often timesavers, and, if they are well made, a true resource.
