Camera Settings

Hi all,

Am I right if I assume that the parameters of Camera are as follow?

Focal Lenght corresponds to the well.. focal length of your lens.

Frame Width corresponds to the frame size of the sensor.

The placement of the photographer is the camera position in the scene (X,Y,Z position).

In this scenario, how should be considered the zoom feature in the viewport? This is really affecting the perspective if changed. Thanks.

Edit: If I consider it as a zoom of the lens, how can I control it?

The zoom of the viewport is a viewport feature, not a camera feature.

If you use it while looking through the camera view you can see what values in the camera parameters it influences by keeping an eye on the parameters tab.

Which zoom? You can Dolly (move the camera) and zoom-zoom (change Focal Length) depending on which mouse button/keyboard combo you use on the control or in the Viewport.

I took it as him talking about the mouse wheel viewport zoom

Yes, the wheel, or in my case the two fingers zoom in the laptop pad.

Keep in mind that the stock camera does not behave like an actual camera...when considering things like aperature and focal length. If you have knowledge in photography, I'd highly recommend picking these up -

They helped me immensely as my background is with real-world lenses.

Thank you for this! Sure I feel much more confortable with real lens. Gone to my wishlist waiting for discount! Thanks.

I didn't know that I could zoom with right mouse to change focal length. Thanks.

The Perspective View does have those properties, they just aren't visible in the UI since you can't directly select the view (see http://docs.daz3d.com/doku.php/public/software/dazstudio/4/referenceguide/scripting/api_reference/samples/elements/post_load_view_proxy_create/start for a way to access them)
