Not 100% certain, but I would think that the default dog 8 would work. However, any breeds that use dForce hair wouldn't.
Also, which graphics card are you using - 4.7 might not support the card that you have now.
4.7 doesn't have Iray at all, it was added in 4.8. So graphic card is irrelevant.
That also means that even if the base figure did work (which remains to be seen), none of the materials will work.
I can check for you later, probably 12 hours time
I have 4.7 on my Win7 PC with the latest beta because of an offsite script I use not supported later
I can tell you though a lot of later stuff doesn't work from my experience
I use it with my Poser content mostly
Thanks.
still searching my backups for the 4.7 installer
i guess the big Q is if the face rigging works. think the smoothing was a factor.
Seems to work OK. Quick play.
Thanks!
I never got around to firing up my other PC I am afraid
been doing too many intense renders taking up to 12 hours each using all my RAM, VRAM and CPU on the other one and both on the same UPS
the longest render i ever did was panning howie's secret lake. took a week and a half for 720 frames.
without motion blur. was supposed to be a pov of howler running thru the woods
kinda envy you. After I've build a new pc and after a daz break of 2 years had this itch to get back on it. but alas. all my content folders and data and files were set up for Daz4.7. They don't work with the latests Daz build. It crashes like a boss tho.
Been searching all my drives for my old 4.7 installer but can't find it anymore. With all the content i have so far and the little spare time at hand, it's almost not worth the trouble to go through the process of installing and managing all those files again
i still have old exe installers backed up.
prolly donr need most em no more. cept the ols archive freebs. like the creature with the drool
I Remember i couldn't update to 4.8 it crashed my system everytime. after that my work took over and i resorted in creating my own shaders for all the content that came after it. been creating spec and bumb maps for all the iray stuff i bought later. sad to say goodby to all that work.
i installed the new daz tonight and set up a basic iray scene. well that didn't work out all that well. hung up my system in about 30 seconds. guess i'm not smooth sailing back into this.
i still have the old content and runtime folders backed up, countless GB's of all sorts. some of the old render style in daz has a certain playfull touch to it. that's history now. cheers
It looks like your computer doesn't like Iray. 3DL is still included in DS though, so you could try using that.
i will read up some more tomorrow. i have an rtx 2080ti. running on an r9 3900x cpu. 32gb ram. one should think it can handle a basic scene, right?
It should. Try updating the GPU drivers maybe?
Also, it it the only graphic card in the PC? If there are more than one, make sure DS uses the nvidia one.
drivers are from this week. did a spot render on a fresh loaded Gen 3 with the iray render
. didn't crash. that's progress right? lol. i'm also fighting with finding my content. this constant connected thing is not so nice in these times. our internet is pretty throttled atm
You don't need to be connected all the time, only when installing something.
i'll try it again after i had a few hours of sleep. can't find my installed exterior content anymore. it's installed but it wont show up anymore after that crash. i must be tired and missing the obvious. thanks for your help anyway. i will get on top of this or smash a brick though my monitor. :)
Did you add the folder where that content is installed as a content directory in DS preferences?
hmm edit.. after reloading daz 2 times i have th content back. a spot render on this content gives a fatal error tho. crash to desktop but no system wide crash. sigh. sooo before i go to sleep i will try another piece of content. and see what happens ( the good old daz feeling is slowly coming back to me. i remember all the hours lost with Shizzle like this, lol)
edit 2. no luck crashes on the 2nd set as well. iray acces violation pointing towards the iray library.dll in the daz install folder. that has to wait till morning
And yes i have set a few custom content and runtime folders before i started tonight. in both content manager and Daz-studio
