Red Sonja character and hair idea's?

For G3G8f I have a couple ideas but want some opinions from preferbly anyone who's done daz renders of her. What do you think a good character would be? The face I think is most important as her body can be easier to fine tune. (must be G3 or G8f) I'm ok with the outfit. The hair I'm looking around and am spoiled for choice almost but I wanted to get one that embodies the character the most. Amy suggestions?

Realistically? Something that keeps it up and out of her face. Something braided. (And yes I understand the irony when I use the term "realistically" in regards to Red Sonja, but braided hair is still awesome and even Brigitte Nielsen had it out of her face in the movie.)

Red Sonja = Red Hair Green eyes

Since she's busy doing the whole warrior thing, the key is messy and unkept red hair,  wind swept for sense of action and movement. So a good set of morphs built in to the hair can help to suggest that movement.

Red Sonja is often depicted with flowing hair, so I think First Bastion's hair suggestion is right on.  Braids and/or ponytails would normally be the order of the day for a warrior, but wouldn't necessarily be true to the source art.  And yeah, red hair green eyes would of course be the order of the day.

As for the body, Olympia 7 or Olympia 8 should be a good place to start.  Sharah HD for Olympia 8 has a somewhat interesting face, but looking over the source art, Sonja's face has varied a lot over the years, so really this one comes down to a judgement call on your part.  If you plan to do to use her for a series of renders, go with the face that makes you the most happy/feels 'right' to you, as it'll bring you a little more joy as you work.

There's a few 'bodybuilder' morphs you can dial in a tiny bit as needed, say Ms. Swole or other appropriate shapes/morphs, if you want to bulk up Olympia or whomever just a bit more.

As for wardrobe, well I think the Daz product library has that pretty well covered, looking over the source art.

I've rendered a number of other 'fantasy heroine sword & sorcery' gal types, but disclaimer:I haven't done Red Sonja yet.  So consider this advice accordingly.

I'm aware of her depiction throughout the comics, but I was more referencing her deptiction by Brigitte Nielson. I guess it's because I'm not really a fan of comics...nothing against them, I just don't care for them. But I did love the 1985 movie. If I ever were to do fanart, that's how I'd depict her. Each to their own, haha.

Funny, that is why I hated the movie, I thought Brigette looked nothing like Red Sonja which was a minus for me since I grew up on RS comics and VNs.

To the OP, this shader sets works well for any clothing items you want to use for a RS character https://www.daz3d.com/uber-iray-medieval-armor-shaders

I have kitbashed quite a few RS characters thru the generations (images at DA). All this talk is making me want to work up a new version, LOL

This is normally the hair I like the most for 'Fantasy Female Warriors'.

    For the ponytail mostly.

The bangs are probably a bit much, but otherwise I find it fun to work with.

More often though, I tend to lean to shorter hairstyles for gal warriors.  More practical, less headaches when posing.

As for whole Hyborean thing, I'm more of a fan of Valeria I think.  Sandahl Bergman really nailed that role IMHO.  Nothing against Red Sonja the movie, but yeah...

Grace Jones as Zula in Conan The Destroyer was a rather enjoyable character though!  I know some people don't like that movie, but how often do you get to see Wilt Chamberlain towering over Arnold, looking like a badass?  Plus, Mako as Akiro the Wizard, well I enjoyed seeing him again as well.

Dagoth, the sleeping god who awoke at the end of the movie to fight Conan was played in an uncredited role by Andre the Giant! There is a famous picture of Andre and Wilt physically lifting Arnold up by his arms and carrying him off, apparently due to some dispute over who pays for dinner. I did a Red Sonja render ages ago using Roberto Melo's Bruuna character for V4. A fun topic, to be sure.

Heather Hair for G8 looks good, wish someone would do another chainmail bikini on the line of Powerage's Barbarian one.  As far as model, find oue you like and play with morph dials; muscles, tone, bodybuilder to get the look you want.  Back in the day, SAV Goldy Hair or Good ol'Girl Hair was the great for Red Sonja (found at Rendo).
