I've ditch all or most of the bookshelves personally. I don't believe the current occupant has read all those books either. laugh

Why do you doubt that any one could have read the books?  Would you believe that there are equally as many books in this little house I live in (I think it must be approaching 4 figures), and all of them have been read at least once,  some of them have been read several times, by either myself or himself when he was still alive.  I am currently making up some boxes of books to have them take down to a charity shop and have 4 boxes packed already.

    Is book-shaming a thing? :D

Books are full of fake news.

    especially those fiction ones

speaking of climbing those wall stairs. NO !  ... or is that reading area just for show. You cannot ever have flat space vacant in an apartment.

I had to give away a lot of my old books because some kind of mites had gotten into them in Singapore. But they never bothered me until I left. Now I prefer e-books (except when the words get changed).

Oddly, this thread made me decide to buy this set. I adore sets with so much attention to detail in them. I'll buy a full apartment over just a living room or something anyday!

I like the set, but I find the floor dominates the look of the apartment too much and is a visual distraction. I will be removing it since it could add to render times. It looks neat though I'd probably like it in real life.

    i just bought it.
the price is so low it doesn;t matter ... much potential. I need a set of staris for that loft sitting room though. Might have to try to rearrange the apartment a bit.  ... maybe a rope ladder hanging from one of the beams. or a glass stairway from the pipe area near the dining swinging over there. .. something other than that wall climbing thing.

    Any ideas?

The default lighting that it comes with actually makes it look really nice. Makes for a great backdrop!

Excuse the bit of noise in the full version, I didn't let it cook all the way, but you can see what I mean. I added one light to it so that her face wasn't shadowed, other than that this is right out of the box.

Looks great. I could live there, if it was in the UK at least.

    +1

I for one used to have 1000's; a pipe/water burst took care of most of them. I have a fair number on a kindle now.

... I doubt there was more than 20 unread of those 1000s.

I was thinking that the floor, while a bit much for a home, might make the space suitable for a club or restaurant.  Would need a lot of work, but it has a lot of interesting stuff going on.

Actually I was thinking of making the glass covered pipe thing into a glass covered fish pond. There's a restaurant like that here where you walk on glass over a koi pond. Now I just need 3D koi. I'm not saying it's not interesting, just a bit odd. Especially with no bathroom or closets and door that looks like a door that would lead out to a patio or back yard when this clearly would lead to a more secure door and and elevator. I'm not really putting it down, as much I'm just finding it confusing.,.

OMG, when I recently moved, the movers were freaking out about how many books I have! I have 6 large bookshelves and three smaller ones and still have leftover books in boxes I haven't unpacked yet! I inherited a bunch from my parents though, including some really old ones. I'm afraid to read them because the pages are falling apart! I'm originally from NYC and I think books are more of of thing back East than here in California where I am now. Maybe because the weather is so great here year round that people spend more time outdoors. (Or, I hate to say it, but the education is better there...)

Last night when I had insomnia I googled Brooklyn warehouse apartment images and there were some amazing designs!

...I like it, Kind of has a "Brazil" appeal to it.

I lived for ten years in LA from 4 to 14. My family was always surrounded by books. Both parents had a love of learning and reading. And we also spent more time outside than kids today did. I had a 50-gallon drum that was my starship, with neighbor kids who were my crew. Today, I am not sure the kids coming out of the school system anywhere is able to read anything beyond an emogi or some weird acronym. And they never go outside to play with the neighborhood kids. (Major generalization there I realize.)

...even when I'm on an online news site, I prefer to read the written story than watch the video they usually have at the top as the written one usually has much more information and detail.

I feel that Ray Bradbury may have been a bit prophetic with his Fahrenheit 451. Crikey there are vidscreens that cover almost an entire wall today which in the novel, were referred to as "Parlour Walls".

Yeah nothing screams 'upscale apartment' more than showcasing the visible plumbing...

I like Wonderland's idea about turning it into a fish tank though.  Hopefully you can delete the pipes!

The ladder rungs to nowhere on the back wall are... interesting?  No idea where they were supposed to go.

You guys are on about the furniture though, I guess I'll have to give it a second look.

The rungs are the only way to get to that open deck seating area above the kitchen.

I see it now, didn't notice the deck before, at least in context.  That deck is very unsafe!  First order of business, add a railing...

Maybe the PA was inspired by this Jersey City apartment featured in 'The NY Post'

Oops, it's in Brooklyn, not Jersey City; but awesomely cool.

I think there is actually a DAZ 3D Store product based loosely off this apartment already.

    They do https://www.daz3d.com/z-clock-tower-loft-poses

I actually kinda liked it. It's got a cool industrial look. The pipes with the light underneath is a little much tho, but a quick hardwood flooring texture over that and fixed ;). I can hide anything else I don't want, like the stuff over the kitchen and the ladder.

I did a couple of evening light renders.  I also went ahead and tried the water under the glass thing.  I think the pipes are probably less weird.

That looks really nice. I actually thought the pipes looked cool for a workspace/public spot but this looks cozier/homey:)

Oh that does look cool with the water! Can I ask which shader you used?

I was lazy and used the water plane from https://www.daz3d.com/z-personal-watercraft-and-poses-for-genesis-3-and-8, and underneath I put the sand floor from https://www.daz3d.com/aguja-undersea-environment, which you don't see here with this lighting or at this angle.

What a great idea! It looks really great, exactly the way I imagined it!

It's a first release by this artist. The feedback is clearly needed. I will say there is some potential, lots of props and it can be had cheaply.

Keep up the detailed work and people will buy your things. If you modeling a full house/flat don't forget to put in the bathroom/toilet and not a storage ;) I pass because of that.

Other advice: Make the extra things - that got your attention to model it - separate and easy to change and show that in the rendered scenes so more people will buy it as many people love to put things together and put in their little touch for their own taste and joy.

ps2: and make that toilet posable. Some people, not me, are chewing off Pa's ears if it's not posable. :)

    About those pipes under glass:

It's the proper way to display ancient american architecture...

When on holiday in Cagliari - capital of Sardinia (italian island in the Mediterranean Sea) - we had a holiday appartment that had some glass floor in the entry hall of the house, showing part of some roman times sewerage below.

The only thing I would love to see with these apartments and never do is a backdrop included for the windows.

More often than not I struggle to find an appropiate image (that also has the right license) with the right angle and everything.

Daz Studio can use HDRIs, right? https://hdrihaven.com/ has free ones. (Sorry if this is off track, I get that way sometimes.)

Disclaimer: I have no connection with HDRIHaven or its affiliates, except for shock, awe and a small donation.
