Glumgurgle

Does anybody know why this figure (wasn't it part of the Olli Pro Bundle?) disappeared from the store. I'm currently reinstalling my runtime on an external SSD and did no longer find it in the store. I can still download the figure via DIM though. Strangely my purchased Ollie Pro Bundle shows 1 item (Jonah) not purchased. So it seens Glumgurgle got replaced by Jonah?

That's an interesting discovery. I got the pro bundle when it first came out, and now there is a new character in the bundle that it says I don't own. I wonder if there was a copyright issue or something. Maybe he looked too much like Gollum. If so, and if we shouldn't be using him for commercial work, then I hope we would get a notice from DAZ if we bought the original bundle. It would also seem that the new character in the bundle should be added as a free update for those who got the original bundle since the original has a missing character now. To get an official answer, however, we may need to contact DAZ directly. There may be some other reason he was removed. I just wish we would get notices when things like this happen.

Initially I thought you were saying "Gulormgrunkle" which is a very insensitive word in Thelephlorgian... After recovering from my shock and horror... (independent of what I read, I just happened to get electrocuted and step into a bowl of moldy pudding under my desk), I noticed you wrote "Glumgurgle", which isn't so bad... in fact it's not even an insult in Thelephlorgian... So I looked it up...but DAZ thinks it isn't a thing...

This leads me to believe you were actually calling someone a Gulormgrunkle all along...

I'd like to think we've gone beyond the days of judging people by the length of their tentacles, the roughness of their scales and the shagginess of their Kleeflark hair... I guess I was wrong.

On 2nd look, I have not loaded him a while. He does have some close silmularites. Though maybe they removed him just incase.

Loading him up just now, the vibe I get is of something that doesn't quite have Movie-Gollum's face but is definitely conceptualized as the same type of creature as Movie-Gollum. (A person who hadn't paid attention to Gollum's origin story might describe them as part of the same "species," but Gollum isn't a species of creature, just a hobbit warped by centuries of ownership of an evil magical artifact).

Hopefully I'll still be able to redownload Glumgurgle because my computer just borked and there's a chance I might lose stuff tho my Daz content is on a separate drive. I never bothered to backup store purchases because I assumed anything I'd bought could be redownloaded at any time. I bought Ollie specifically for Glumgurgle.

The substitution is odd. I do have the Jonah character, but I purchased him as an addon.

I see that Ollie's Pro bundle includes the HD morph now. I know it was free with purchase of the bundle, but I don't remember it being a *part* of the bundle.

Oddly, Glumgurgle is still showing as part of the Ollie 8 Pro bundle in my product library, but clicking to get to the product page doesn't work.

Clicking Ollie himself on the product page to get to the store page takes me to a cartoon octopus named Ollie, so I really hope that isn't a substitution as well!

Well given it's similarity in looks to a LOTR CGI character I wouln't be surprised if they got a cease & desist letter and decided not to fight it for the little bit of profit earned off of it.

You can probably combine babyfication & the Greylien to get ballpark close.

I mean, it's not even *that* close...like I knew it was supposed to be Gollum, but it's just off enough...like all the lightsbers in the store and the various characters who are built quite obviously off Star Wars inspirations. *shrugs*

there other things much closer to movie creatures, characters etc in the store

I cannot discus any though devil as that's against the ToS

but I think most know what they resemble when they buy them and that's the reason they do

Ditto.  I got him with the the bundle thing some months back as well. Haven't checked the currnet bundle but will.

So, just LOOKING like a character is an issue now?  Wow.  Sad really.  Really an indication of the litigious society that's developed over the past few decades.

On the oither hand, sort of makes him a collectors item I guess.

Well, he's gone and the artist still has plenty of other products here. I don't know what other conclusions could be drawn. The Gollum, Golem, and others are all variations of a theme but apparrently the variation of Glumgurgle wasn't enough to appease the monied folk. I thought Gumgurgle was a Freakies character when I 1st heard the name but knew it wouldn't be in the DAZ Store.

Well, it just doesn't really make any sense considering he wasn't *that* close, and there are almost perfect renditions of mountain trolls in the store and elven weapons that have been around for much longer. I'm just not sure that's the reason. *shrugs again*

I wish someone in the know could let us...know, lol.
