Watch the sales, Bryce is occasionally priced so insanely low, especially for PC members, that an upgrade discount would be irrelevant.

There's usually a limited time period for upgrades, but those are both are from too far back for anything to be applicable...  In fact, both of those versions were released long before DAZ acquired the rights to the software.  Carrara 3 was from back in the Eovia days, and Bryce 4 would have been under Metacreations or Corel.  We're currently on Bryce 7 and Cararra 8.5  IIRC, though, DAZ did give away free copies of some of the earlier versions with an upgrade uption, but that would have been like 8 years ago.

Watch the sales. Sometimes Carrara Pro and Bryce come up at insanely low prices. Keep in mind, neither has been updated in quite a while.

Bryce 7 pro has been sold for free here at Daz in the past, and currently a very reasonable under $20 now. Carrara 8.5 pro is listed currently cheaper than the standard version.  https://www.daz3d.com/carrara-8-5-pro

I got Bryce 7 Pro for free a long time ago, and IIRC Carrara 8.5 Pro cost me ~$12 at holiday sale a few years ago.

Bryce 4 was 2 owners ago,  my copy of Bryce 4 is from metacreations, it then went to Corel and the released Br 5.   Daz bought it forom Corel and released Bryce 5.5,  The update for Br 5.5  from Br 5 cost $119.95   then from 5.5 to 6 was $199.99   and the same for  6 to & pro.  So the current price is very reasonable  considering what my order history tells me I paid for the Daz versions of Bryce,   that is without the 2,3,4 and 5 versions, which I bought elsewhere (obviously) and have the CDs for.

Carrara is currently in the store for $40ish  if you are a Plat club member.

I got Bryce 5.5 as a free download from CNET and registering it was my introduction to DAZ3D. I paid $40 to upgrade it to Bryce 6.1 and ultimately got Bryce 7.0 Pro as a free giveaway from DAZ

While Bryce and later DAZ Studio may have cost me next to nothing, I have spent a small fortune by having a DAZ3D account.

  • yeah I bought carrara on sale once was like 120$ but it didnt really do what I need so I refunded it, I would probably buy it again if it was under 50$ dont see that happening tho. I saw a few older version of Carrara for quite cheap but was wondering if they honnor people who have old version of software. In the past Lightwave honnored my old copy of Lightwave 8 and discounted an upgrade to 2015 for a quarter of the price, was wondering if daz would do the same. Poser gave me a discount when updating from poser 7 or 8 to 11 more than 50% off which was cool as well.

March madness is going on. There is a good chance you will get both under $50.

There's a couple of products in  the store that are Bryce only. Has anyone experimented with exporting those products into Daz?
This sounds like a familair issue.

    I can't be the first.

Google searches show a few Nos and a Yes with some tricky settings about Mesh and polygons.

It'd be nice to know exactly how before I start a new mission.

    It's this product.

and this I bought by accident when I first started using Daz.

Oh snaps and I do own Bryce 7.

I have all Carrara versions from 3 to 8.1 but unfortunately hardly used it, the problem is me, not Carrara. I have all Bryce from 4 to 7.1 installed and mainly use 7.1. I use Studio to get assets into Bryce, not vice versa. Though I started with Studio 0.8 and am at 4, I seldom use it. For Bryce 6 I use Studio 3 and for 7 Studio 4.

The Machine is a Bryce scene,  so will only open in Bryce.

The Machine looks very nice, but its first scene consists of 5938 objects and 27306233 polygons.

I have just started exporting it as a Collada file from Bryce 7 Pro, but do not know how long the export would take.

Rendering the scene in Bryce with the default settings on my computer took 3 minutes 26 seconds.

I think I got Bryce free.  I do not remember what about Carrara.  Hopefully Bryce will become free again for you.

Considering it's unlikely Daz will update Bryce or Carrara any time soon and that both have been available for free or near-free at times in the past, $40 each sounds expensive to me. It would be a better goodwill gesture to put Bryce and Carrara in the same price category as Daz and Hexagon. That's my 2 cents, anyway.

Why would you want to export it? It already comes with an .obj
