Malika HD and the wily tactics of Bluejaunt

Last weekend I went through my content folders and came to a decision - I was not going to buy and more human figures for Genesis 8, except for interesting looking base figures.

One week later and I log in this morning to see "Malika HD and Smile HD Expression" in the store.  This figure is beautiful and an absolute showcase of Bluejaunt's skill with figures - unique look, high quality textures, great realism.  These wily tactics have forced me to add her to my cart and I'll be checking out very shortly after.

Thank you for creating this one, Bluejaunt.

    She does look great, love the skin will have to pick her up. I can always tell a Bluejaunt by the nose, LOL

    Somebody recommended I try one of Bluejaunt's creations so today I made the splurge and I must say yes! Very nice work.

    {pardon my not so great lighting, getting better ...}

    yes , great characters, but they mainly look like sisters. There are a couple PAs that you can pick out the character most often.

    I can usually tell by that or the pretty smiles. Bluejaunt's models have the best smiles I've seen on Daz.Not sure if it would be practical or possible but I really wish they would release a set of just smiles and mouth presets/morphs/goodness heart

    @Catherine3678ab  thanks for the render share. It's nice to see what she looks like outside of promo pics and her smile looks even better here imo :)

    You can use the smiles on any character, they are in the expressions section. Of course the results will vary depending on the morphs used

    Hmm, I really do love bluejaunte characters but they are indeed starting to show similarities to each other, especially in the face, even when some have different ethnicities, and one is an alien. However, I still might get her because...just because. She is different enough, with dark skin and a slightly thicker frame. I suppose while other Daz users are suckers for fairies and elves I am a sucker for the BJ girls. But I would like to see him step out of his comfort zone a bit with something totally different next time. Maybe even a man. But maybe not an alien.

    But my immediate concern is how her leg bends in this promo here, look at the back of her knee, and how her skin seems to bulge with a sharp right angle. Has anyone who bought done some pics with her knees bent more?

    Hey guys, thanks for the kind words! smiley

    Duely noted outrider, although I'm a bit surprised since people asked me to do a black female and here it is. That sounds to me like it should be considered as stepping outside my comfort zone? Face similiarities seem to be unavoidable, despite my best efforts there's always some people who feel that way. It must have to do with looking in "from the outside". I see this for example with mousso characters that all look alike to me, but maybe not so much to mousso. I'll keep trying to make faces as unique as possible for sure. But I have to accept the fact that to some extend I might just find something wrong with a face until I have reached a state that unintendedly looks more like an existing character to someone. I guess some of it is just "my style" too. I can tell you each time I settle on a face I'm 100% convinced this is unlike anything I've ever done.

    Haven't noticed much wrong with the knee bend. If you find anything worse than what's normal for characters let me know. So far I've never included JCMs to fix knee bends with any character so I'm not sure why Malika would be different but who knows.

    I went ahead and picked her up. I really like the skin and the face morph!

    Quick image. I never use the body morph on any character I purchase, opting for my own and the nose fix (personal taste) was pretty simple. Another fine addition to the gene pool!

    @bluejaunte

     Love your females and curious if there are any males in the bluejaunte style planned?

    I suppose another factor could be your promo art style as well. Now that I see FMSCDesigns take, she looks more different, even considering the body and nose are changed.

    It is true a lot of PAs have a certain style to them. I think a good many Daz vets could identify the PA behind many popular characters with just a few promo pics. So it is kind of nitpick thing. But I like it when people can step out of their comfort zones to try something fully different. I think it potentially makes them (and in relation us) better at their craft. Certainly I am not saying that one should do that all the time, just on occasion, and its not something that can be forced. Well, maybe not too much. I kind of think back to art class when the teacher challenged us to do something, but with X instead of Y, and how it could bring out the creativity in us at times.

    Yeah I did do an alien. That probably ended up not being enough alien, or not enough female... or both laugh

    I personally thought your alien was lovely- from the skin to the shaping. It's definitely on my get list if I ever do something alien related. :)

    What's the difference between Malika and Sina wearing a darer skin? I like the look of the Malika character but want to get an idea if im only getting another face or more of a character build and material.

    BTW which hair was used in the promos.

    Not intentionally but as things turn out I do have a number of figures by the same artists so when Malika first loaded I was quite happy to see a 'different' figure shape. Here's another render, the um, ground cover shader didn't turn out as expected but oh well. About the knee bends, as with any character with some certain morphs, tweaking of poses is necessary to not have the leg bending into itself. For close-up on knees one could always dial out some of the morph, it's a resizing matter I think. In this image I used one of the poses that came with the piano untouched save for the feet, and adding an expression which also came with the piano set. Nice piano from the 2.20 bin :-)

    Is it possible, and how, to make Malika's skintone darker for an ebony look, and will that negatively impact the special looks of Bluejante skin?  I already have Noemi in my wishlist and would love more varities.

    If you compare the skinless head morphs of any of bluejaunte's characters that you think look similar, you will discover vastly different facial features (other than some noses). And all of his girls except Miriam look like black girls to me. So, I was glad to get a darker skin from him. Great work!

    I worked for a doll magazine years ago and met a very popular German dollmaker whose dolls all looked like versions of her!! LOL It's human nature that humans will tend to recreate faces that they know, even without realizing it.

    I love what you did with the nose, she's gorgeous! It looks like you made some other improvements to the face, like the bottom lip? The whole face looks different to me, really beautiful!  But what are those wrinkles on the arm?

    Alicia, very good eye, I did change the depth of the bottom lip a bit.. The "wrinkles' are veins from the vascularity package from Zevo. I like a little more detail on my women, LOL

    Usualy i can spot a Mouso,emrys, BJ character from a distance. Not neccassarily because they look the same but thay have a ditinct style. The same with Marcus and DT.

    Personaly i dont mind this and my first 3 mentioned PA's are for me the best character creators. They manage to have the right balance between beauty (though this is subjective) and realism.

    Keep up the good work BJ!

    If someone's veins bulge like that at rest, it's not a sign of robust health.

    Well I don't know if they all look like Black girls to me but certainly Sahel, Carmen, Inaru, and Sina do. Anyway, I was one of those people who wanted to see darker skinned characters done by Bluejaunte. I had decided I wasn't going to spend any more money on the bogus Daz sales for a while but then Malika appeared. I immediately recognized it as a Bluejaunte character without looking at any details. So I guess all of her sisters finally have a sibling who took on the father's skin tone rather than the mother or something. I bought it the day it was released and have been quite pleased with the results so far. And if an even darker sibling comes along, I'll probably get that one too.

    I think I might have the BJ fever as well. I thought Malika was pretty from the promos but she's really grown on me since rendering her. Definitely think I'll be getting more of them! Here are Malika and Sahel together in a render to play around with settings trying to improve :)
