OK, didn't know where to go with this . . . I bought Ping in picture it shows as furry . . . in DAZ Studio, I set to dense fur and think lashes . . . in view port he looks like 2nd image, but renders like 3rd picture. There was no readme file in package with directions, so I have no idea what I am doing wrong. DAZ Studio is not the software I use to use. 10 years later, I find stuff for DAZ only so am trying.
It renders with no fur . . . what am I doing wrong?

The 2nd picture (the viewport) shows the figure with the dForce hair loaded. The final image seems to show just the base character, suggesting you are not using Iray to render with.
Is that an actual render, or iray preview? By default dForce hair will not show in iray preview.
I had an idea I knew what the issue was, but I wanted to actually test things first.
I loaded Ping with the same materials, posed him somewhat, and rendered him in Iray, 3Delight, and OpenGL. I could not replicate your render with these three. And while the 3Delight and OpenGL looked awful, they did show up the fur/hair.
Then I changed the Tool I was using to the Geometry Editor Tool and rendered in Iray again. With this tool active, the fur/hair did not render.
There are two tools included with Daz Studio that cause this problem, the Geometry Editor Tool and the Node Weight Brush Tool (or Node Weight Map Brush, if you select it from the Tools menu.) There is something about the way these tools work that interfere with DS's ability to render dForce Hair, or Strand Based Hair.
The new Mesh Grabber PA product will also cause the problem. As it appears to use features of the Geometry Editor, it makes sense to me it would cause the same issues with the render.
(Even knowing about this behavior, I have had times when I was scratching my head over non-rendering hair.)
Change the active tool and see if your image will render with the fur.

OK, don't know how to find my Ping thread and no message that anyone had replied to it. Still don't know how to find my posts, so I did a search to find it. Have added link to page now . . . thank you for all the help and I will try to add now . . . I did not load any lights, so will try that first . . . they make the images so dark!
Tried to load IRAY lights but am stuck on Preview Lights which is what I was using because I can't find a way to shut them off. Will start anew.
I tried loading the only Iray lights listed and it loaded a dome with ground and background and still no fur . . . . GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR . . . see how mad I am?
Took a while to see how to get rid of that fiasco . . . so tried the two under the Lights tab . . . now it has a shadow and still no fur . . . stomping mad!
OK, have tried every light I have and still no fur . . . guess I will uninstall DS and install AGAIN! For the third time. Then will try again.
It is an actual render, not just iray preview?
Note: to find your posts or threads, use the forums "cog menu" and select your name to open your forum profile. There you will find another "cog menu" where you can access your posts and your threads.
Are you using the latest Daz Studio? if so, then just load PING, then with him selected, load the fur and then just hit the render button at the top (render - render) and a new window should open up and you should see PING with fur start to render.
When you add lights to the scene, Daz Studio tries to approximate what that would look like. To see the scene in the viewport as it was before adding lights, use Ctrl+L
By default, dForce hair will not render in the Nvidia Iray draw mode. This is so Daz Studio doesn't get bogged down. However, based on your original images, I believe the one with a white background is an actual render. Did you see my previous post? I recommend you select the Universal Tool and then try rendering your scene. Let us know if that doesn't solve your problem.
If that doesn't help, I have Ping, so you could get the .duf scene file to me and I could take a look at the actual scene on my computer.

If you want to see any dForce hair or fur in the viewport or in Iray preview mode, you need to change two settings. (As L'Adair said, having it not show by default is to save DS from getting bogged down. My DS slows to a crawl when I have dForce hair showing fully in the viewport.)
Here's how to get it to show outside of your final render:
Select the hair in the scene tab. Under the Parameters tab, find Preview PR Hairs and set it to 'ON' and change Line Tessilation from 0 to a higher value. I usually just use a setting of 2. Then the fur should show in Iray preview mode and in the regular viewport.

I was using the node selection tool but don't know why or how . . . it was just the tool that loaded . . .just switched to the one you suggested and DS seems to have gone crazy

Might try this n the big computer . . . but I think with it NOT showing on this laptop is so much I couldn't even type in here.
Shutting everything down but DS and changing to Universal tool; O, and crossing fingers that the reason I had to quit last attempt was because it was trying to build the fur . . . there was NO 'readme text' in the package to explaiin any of this, unusual for Lady Littlefox when I was testing for her 10 years ago. Going to hit render now.

2.5 hours later . . . fur there BUT color is wierd . . . now I can fight that shadow . . . why did it matter what pointer tool was used? Does everyone have to use that tool? I feel like there should have been a text telling you what you needed to do. I had my eye on the little fox, but I think I will leave the money in my pocket if I can't get a better render and color. But this was a test run anyway . . . LOL

Glad you got the fur showing! for the color, apply the MAT files for the color to PING and to the fur and it should display as intended.
I explained the issue with the Tools in this post, but I think you missed it. I'm not actually clear why some Tools interfere with the render, only that they do. You don't have to use the Universal Tool to render, but I didn't want to add any confusion, so I picked the Tool I use the most.
As for the color of the fur, each color option requires you select Ping and then apply two material presets. One preset, (Materials,) will apply the option to the figure. The second preset will apply option to the fur. It is a Hierarchical Material preset, (H.Materials,) which means Ping must be selected, not his fur.
DS keeps loosing it's mind and blowing up, but sweet is the success anyway.. Thank you all; situation resolved!
