BJ Misumi HD question

Does anyone know where "Misumi's custom smile" expression is located?

https://www.daz3d.com/misumi-hd--signature-smile-hd-expression-for-genesis-8-female

I can only find Sahel's smile when selecting the head and going to pose controls -> head -> expressions

The file itself is definitely installed in the data folder, but I can't locate her custom smile expression at all

I've uninstalled and reinstalled her (via DIM)

I'd try doing a search for "Misumi" under the parameters tab.

See under Pose controls > Head

For some reason, it will only be found if you select the figure as a whole, not just the head. I don't know why, as the path in the properties seems correct.

(In truth, I should have opened a ticket on this, but never got around to it).

oh there it is! Thank you! Hmm that is really an odd placement - who's going to look in full body when wanting an expression? I'll put a ticket in for it - maybe if you do to, it'll get seen and fixed quicker? Thank you @Matt_Castle

In the Parameters tab, I'm finding it under Head/Pose Controls/Expressions, which seems like the right placement for the morph.

Actually that is how they are meant to be with the Genesis series, unlike Poser content selecting a bone doesn't give you access to the mesh, so there isn't anything there for sliders to manipulate, instead what you find is a bunch of empty sliders with ERC links to the actual sliders in the BODY.

TBH with Genesis most users don't need the Paramters tab, the Shaping and Posing tabs cover most of the things needed.

FWIW, one could also say that most users don't need the Posing and Surfaces tab for most of the things needed. Nice part is options for a person's particular workflow.

I only use the parameters tab. I've never used shaping or posing...

Apparently Misumi is missing an alias that we usually do to make the dial also appear when the head is selected. I'll submit a fix.

There are a number of expression sliders that only appear in the Pose Controls of the main body, for example the Unique Smile set of expressions. Most however appear under both body and head. Rather irrating that they can not be consistent in appearing in both.

ps: Add me to the list of Parameter Tab users. Why have 2 tabs open when 1 covers both?

thank you bluejaunte!!!!! I did notice that the file name seemed to be a bit different from Sahel's smile's file name, but didn't know if that made a difference laugh

Can you elaborate on that? Because I can't make the damn alias work at the moment. Maybe you're seeing something I'm not laugh

    For Sahel, there is:

    alias_head_eCTRLSahelSignatureSmileHD.dsf

    eCTRLSahelSignatureSmileHD.dsf

     For Misumi, there is only:

    eCTRLMisumiSignatureSmileHD.dsf

I remember looking at it and wondering if there is meant to be a "alias_head" one also. Sorry, I didn't mean there WAS an alias-head file for Misumi, which I think is what you were meaning? I wasn't clear, apologies.

(there are also SahelSignatureSmile.dsf, SahelSignatureSmileHDLv2.dhdm, SahelSignatureSmileHDLv2.dsf as well as MisumiSignatureSmile2.dsf, MisumiSignatureSmile2HDlv4.dhdm, MisumiSignatureSmile2HDlv4.dsf. Which, does the fact that Misumi's other smile files have '2' in them, whereas her eCTRL smile filename doesn't have a 2 mean anything?)

Yeah the alias_head is what was missing. It's a special empty morph that serves only that one purpose to make the smile also appear when the head is selected. The Smile2 thing as far as I remember is just having had two probably similiar smiles and then deciding to use the second one and being too lazy to rename it, or I wanted to keep the other one around for a bit.

Still can't get it to work for some reason. Weird...
