Basic Genisis figure control

Am I correct in that the free Genisis 8 figure cant even smile or frown without buying a plugin to make it do so?

No way to open or close mouth without spending money on a plugin to do so?

Open or close eyes without spending money on a plugin to do so ?

You would think those are basis features and must be included.

Thanks Jimmy

These are included, there's even a whole tool to simplify the proceedure called Pose Pose.

Go to Window > Panes > Power Pose (if it's not already visible) With a Genesis 8 figure selected.

  • Also, go into the parameters tab and scroll down in the all section and you have control of all the joints there, like opening the mouth and such.

I'm not sure, because i have the base expression pack installed. But it's worth going and taking a look.

Load a Genesis character. open up the scene tab, drill down, and select the head. The go to the parameters tab and look under Pose Controls. There should be a listing for Head. If you do purchase an expression pack and the poses are on dials instead of one-click presets, you should find those packages listed there under Expressions. But there ought to also be a number of other entries like; Brow, Eyes, Mouth, etc. These have a number of fairly basic posing controls which will produce some fairly basic expressions. r can help to fine-tune expressions from other sources.

The whole idea of Daz' business model is supply the software for free and sell the content ;). You can do some very basic stuff with the free Genesis figures, but to do anything meaninful you'll need to buy morphs and expressions.

And there's sites with tons of free expressions and morphs. Not sure if we're allowed to name some of them: perhaps Richard Hasselhoff will weigh in.

Granted, they won't be as easy to install as DAZ DCIM stuff, but that's the price you pay for free stuff.

  • Can someone direct me to a tutorial how to morph the face without buying added plugins. I am trying to do some character modifications.

I remenber a time about 20 yrs ago when Poser and Daz did a great job of this fairly easy but with what I'm looking at now everything needs a special plugin.

The attached picts are from 2002 when I use to mess around with this stuff.

    Thanks

The forum's listed rules mostly seem to cover direct linking to products, with no actual stated rule against stating sites' names. Of course it also says that it gives authority for the moderators to make whatever exceptions they feel like.

I see people mention the R (and it's adult companion) site fairly often however.

Could always just search for "poser daz freebies". Which should offer a site that is a depository of links to free content on multiple sites.

We have a complete forum dedicated to Freebies.   It also has a sticky thread at the top where you can make requests for freebies or location of freebies.

Genesis 3s and 8s have facial bones for doing expressions, you don't have buy anything extra.  There are expression packages that add HD morphs for greater realism.
